Somewhat Unwelcome Morning

Softkit stretched her claws out, raking the little needles through the sand. The shadows cast by the gorse surrounding her threw dapples across her white toes and striped legs, briefly making her look more leopard than tabby. Her eyes squinted shut against the light as she yawned before being cut short by a sneeze. She gave a minute squeak in surprise, utterly blindsided. Softkit shook her head a bit. She wanted to curl right back up and fall asleep, pretend she had never noticed the light of day. Unfortunately she could hear the rest of the clan out and about, already awake and probably fed. Sleeping in would be nice, but maybe there were better things to do.

Taking as long as she could, Softkit got to her feet. She briefly sat and gave herself a quick wash, getting rid of as much sand from the night's sleep as possible and making herself look at least somewhat presentable before marching out into the daylight. Once she looked and smelled as fresh as she could, Softkit struck out for the open air.
