What are the duties of a medicine cat: The duties of a medicine cat are many and varied; a medicine cat must learn the known uses of herbs for healing injuries and illnesses, and also must have an innovative mind so that they may come up with new ways to treat illnesses and injuries. They must also have compassion-- the warrior code must be obeyed, but a medicine cat must have the proper balance of compassion and clan loyalty to understand that no cat deserves to die just because of clan rivalries.
A medicine cat must be quick on their paws so that they can quickly and effectively treat cats in the event of an emergency; they must also have the patience and desire to be a mentor, as a medicine cat, unlike a Warrior, must take an apprentice.
It is also the duty of a medicine cat to communicate with and understand their warrior ancestors. Medicine cats may receive signs and omens from Starclan, so they must have a strong sense of faith in order to understand such things.

What you would do with this position: Rainkit wants nothing more than to help other cats-- he saw his mother pass away from an illness that he had no power to save her from. If he becomes the medicine cat apprentice, he will learn how to heal so that he will never have to experience such a complete loss of control. He will hold the lives of his clan in his paws, and he will work harder than any cat to see that every cat is cared for.

Why you think you deserve this position: Rainkit is not clan-born, but he feels an incredibly strong sense of loyalty to Shadowclan. He is incredibly grateful to the clan that saved him from death, and feels that, as a medicine cat, he can repay the debt he owes them. True, he could do this by defending its borders and fighting alongside the other strong, brave Shadowclan cats as a warrior, but he knows in his heart that what he truly wants isn't violence, but healing. He doesn't have a strong connection with Starclan-- however, he longs to feel close to them. He knows that if he truly wants to become a member of the clan and understand the meaning of the warrior code, he must believe in Starclan. He can't seem to do it on his own, though, and he often feels jealous of Dawnflower's close connection to them. He hopes that, someday, she could teach him how to feel close to Starclan, too.
