An Intruder In His Own Home

Scorchpaw was fed up. He was sulking on the outskirts of what used to be ThunderClan's land. It just wasn't fair. He couldn't believe his brother's clan would drive them out of their home. But then again, the odd-eyed tom hated Scorchpaw with a passion. He decided to pay no mind to his dull-minded brother. Cinnamonpaw and he would get their reward in the form of Darkpaw's anguish. 

He was filled with rage and stormed right into the territory. He didn't care to cover his scent. He started marking trees just on the edge, trying to steal back his home inch by inch. 

Soon, the apprentice found himself back at camp, which was in shambles. The brambles that surrounded the camp were trampled, probably from SkyClan and RiverClan's invasion. He climbed the highrock and lay on it, staring out into the rich colors of dusk. The whole situation made him feel so uncomfortable. The complete silence, save for a bird's gentle call, was so uncharacteristic for the camp. The wind blew the broken dens so eerily. He didn't feel right. It wasn't right, not a bit of it. He growled, anger burning in his stomach as he leaped up, yelling to the sky. 

"Cowards!" he screamed, his fur raised and his ears back. "So afraid of us that you ran us out, are you? I see, it took you two clans to take us down! Couldn't do it fairly, now, could you?!" His breath quickened as tears clawed at his eyes. He lost his breath completely as he heard a noise behind him. If that's a warrior, I'm done for!

"Who's there?" He called into the dark foliage.

Jayflight purred "Who do you think, Scorchpaw?" he sat down next to him "Remember me? The one you met in the Dark Forest?"

Scorchpaw breathed in relief. "Oh, Jaypaw! It's you!" He nuzzled his friend's cheek in friendly greeting. He was glad it hadn't been someone else. A small frown of confusion crossed his features. "You look much older. Have they made you a warrior already? What's the name? Let me guess... Jaystrike? What about Jayfang?"

Jayflight shook his head "It's Jayflight" he corrected "You still the good ol' Scorchpaw I know?" he asked.

He smiled. "Eh, that was my next guess." There was something about Jayflight's personality that made him more comfortable. Everyone else just made him a bit pestered. "I'm still me, I guess. A bit grumpier than usual, but still me. Anything new with you? Any new bundles of joy running around your camp?" Kits would keep his mind off the sadness and despair in his clan right then. Kits were, after all, beams of light in an otherwise dark place.

"Yes, I have two new siblings, their names are Lilykit and Marigoldkit" he mewed "But I don't think I'll be a father yet" he murmured.

He smiled softly to himself. "Kittens can do no wrong, you know. Honestly, they should make the kits the clan leaders!" he joked. "They're incapable of sin, which is why I love them so much. I can't wait to have a few." If I find a cat who'll put up with me, of course... He stared around the camp with a saddened expression. "What was the point in taking our homes away from us? It doesn't make sense to create even more tension between the Clans. Soon, it'll break..." he trailed off.

Jayflight shook his head "I don't know, the clans are just like that I guess" he mewed "But I bet some cat is out there for you, I've got somebody that you might know that likes me"
