Jaypaw's Assesment

Silverstone waited by the camp's entrance, yawing as the beginning of dawn's light poured across her face. Today was Jaypaw's assessment, and although Silverstone was sad to let her apprentice go and become a warrior, she was happy that he was joining her in the warrior's den. She had made a great friend through this mentor-ship, and she hoped to keep him as one for a long time. "Jaypaw," the she-cat called loudly as her blue gaze swiveled around the camp. She didn't care about the kits, queens, and other cats who were still asleep. "Jaypaw! I have something special for you today!"

Jaypaw looked at Silverstone tiredly but happyily "Really-oh ya!" he realized what he was doing today now.

Silverstone purred at him with a smile. "It's your assessment. Come on, I'll explain what to do as we walk." The warrior turned and padded out of camp. "All you gotta do is catch five pieces of prey before sundown. I'll be watching you the whole time, but in secret, so you won't notice me....hopefully." She giggled, then flicked her tail even though Jaypaw couldn't see. "You may start now. Don't feel rushed, okay?"

Jaypaw nodded Five pieces of prey he echoed in his head, he headed off searching for a good place for prey already.

Jaypaw scented a bird, it was a vole. His blind gaze turned to the vole and stalked it. Unsheathing his claws, leaping up he clamped his teeth down onto its neck and finished it off by digging his claws into its tiny body. He dug a hole and dropped it in, moving the Earth's dirt over it to bury it he headed on.

Silverstone watched from the trees above, leaping from branch to branch as she followed Jaypaw from the air. She nodded proudly and thought, good job. This'll be over in no time.

Jaypaw was stalking a bird (don't really know what kind of prey to get XD), he would use a bit of a different technic to catch this one though. He moved closer to the bird with his claws unsheathed and one of them almost touching the bird. He quickly moved in front of the prey and used his claws to strike the rabbit, killing it. He dug another hole and buried it looking for more prey to catch, he could scent a new scent. It was a rabbit, a very fast one. He tracked its scent and then stalked it, he moved closer but the rabbit flew away. Jaypaw's mind burned with anger Uh! he thought chasing the prey. He was far behind making a small leap to catch the rabbit, then landed his claws into it and bit down killing it. He just needed one more piece of prey to finish, he dug another hole and buried it close to his other kill that he had caught earlier.

Silverstone hid from Jaypaw the whole time, watching his different techniques and cleverness. Hmm...he looks like a great hunter. He's definitely becoming a warrior soon. A beaming smile flashed onto the warrior's face as pride filled her chest. She was the one who had taught Jaypaw and morphed him into what he was now. Silently, Silverstone made her way after the apprentice.

Jaypaw stalked his final prey, it was a jay (;)). He leaped up and bit down into it's neck, killing it he walked over to all his other piles and undug each one. Leaving a pile of fresh-kill he tried to scent his mentor, Silverstone. He had heard trees and branches and had scented a bit of her, he flicked his tail and tracked the scent down soon finding her.
