Poolkit's Apprentice Ceremony

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the willow branch for a Clan meeting!" Fishstar called.

Poolkit walked out from the nursery, determined to be a good warrior even though she couldn't be medicine cat. She sat under the willow branch, waiting.

Fishstar gave the little kit an optimistic look, but she knew that she wasn't as happy as she would have been as the medicine cat apprentice. The position had been given to Cloudkit, after much thought and debate. The leader felt a pang of sympathy, but hoped that Poolkit would enjoy her time as a warrior's apprentice in return for her disappointment. "Poolkit, please step forward."

The blue-gray she-cat stepped up, filled with anticipation despite her disappointment. Who would be her mentor?

Before continuing the ceremony, Fishstar paused to think for a moment. She hadn't really had time to consider a mentor for Poolkit, as she had been one of the candidates to take up the duties of the medicine cat. Hmm..

"Poolkit, you have now reached the age of six moons, are are ready to be apprenticed. From this day forward, until you earn your warrior name, you shall be known as Poolpaw." She halted once again, flattening her ears in thought. Who hadn't had an apprentice in a long time? Most of the warriors had either recently trained apprentices or currently had one.. Ah, I know. "I will mentor you. I promise to teacher you everything I have learned thus far."

Poolpaw gaped with surprise, touching her nose to the leader's. What an honor! "I won't let you down," she vowed.
