Hawks! (Closed Event)

Pinedusk patrolled the territory, walking fast and thinking as he followed scents and surveyed for intruders. This was a normal day for him, simple and windy. Each step led him to think about those hawks from his kithood, how foolishness and stupidity nearly got him and his sister, Saltpelt, killed, had it not been for Feathertail. But she was an elder now, and most definitely sleeping in camp. The memory nagged at him, the sound sharp of their caws. He didn't want to hear it anymore. He shook away the memories. He then thought about Dovestrike, his beloved mate, who died just yesterday. He then thought about his kits that were never born. He sighed and walked on.

The hawk memories were brought back at the caw of one. It nearly scared him out of his pelt. The patrol of seven, Rowancloud, Kestrelstorm, Palepaw, Ashwing, Harepaw, Saltpelt and himself was big, and he'd be able to notify the if one was there. It was. Three gigantic hawks soared through the air, cawing and flapping their wings. They had to get them away from camp- that was all. "Hawks! Hawks!" Pinedusk yowled, trying to get everyone's attention. He saw four cats run from camp to help defend them- Sablestar, Finchpaw, Maizepaw, Foxpaw and Mothpaw.

He waited for them to come over so Sablestar could instruct them on what to do.

Palepaw gasped as he saw the hawk Pinedusk pointed out. He saw Sablestar run over and ran to her. "What should we do?" He asked frantically.

Three hawks soared above. One of which, the leader male, was planning on taking his family for a hunting trip. His eyes locked on to two apprentices- Finchpaw and Mothpaw. The others set of eyes, the mothers, were set on Palepaw, Foxpaw and Maizepaw, and the thirds on Harepaw and Kestrelstorm. He was the biggest of all, bigger than the father hawk. The cats were large too, but they were hungry, and their talons and beaks were sharp. The first, the leader, dove onto Finchpaw and Mothpaw, cawing, talons outstretched.

Finchpaw growled at the hawk, her body shook and her fur was on end. She unsheathed her claws and jumped onto its back along with biting it, she dug her claws deep into it blood seeped out as she clawed and bit the hawk.

"Finchpaw, no!" The wail escaped Maizepaw's muzzle before he could stop it, and he ran to his closest friend as the hawk swooped down toward Finchpaw and Mothpaw. He had no idea what he was doing; his mind was completely shut down and he wasn't even thinking about his actions. All that the pink tom knew was that he needed to save his friends, and his body was in control. With a powerful leap, Maizepaw sprang onto the leader male hawk, sure that he was most likely going to get killed by it, but positive that he was going to go down protecting his clan.

Ashwing hissed at the hawk, remembering her brother Birchkit who had been killed by one. She squared her shoulders and ran to defend the apprentices. "Get behind me! " The deputy yelled at Finchpaw and Mothpaw as the Hawks circled above.

Finchpaw fell off the hawk landed on the ground with a thump, she shook her fur and got behind Ashwing. She hissed at the hawk looking around at all the cats, she looked back at Maizepaw "Maizepaw get off the hawk!" she yowled.

A burst of fear flashed through Saltpelt at the sheer size of the hawks, they were big enough to carry a warrior easily like they were prey. Her unsheathed claws dug into the ground, stopping her from moving in any direction out of concern that she would be carried off. She'd never been the biggest she-cat around, but the fervent cries of her apprentice, Finchpaw, snapped her out of it. If an apprentice was willing to rush the hawk, she wasn't going to cower behind.

The white tabby freed herself from the earth and raced over to the male hawk that Maizepaw was fighting. She raced over and tackled the hawk, biting and clawing at it's wing so that it would be immobilised at least. A bird without wings couldn't make off with their apprentices or kits. Inbetween bites, she hissed to Maizepaw. "Attack the other wing!"

Mothpaw hissed vehemently as the hawk dove down. His amber eyes blazed as Ashwing yelled out an order to get behind her. "I'll flay that thing alive!" the long-legged tom shrieked. How dare these birds attack his Clan. He looked around but the place seemed to be in chaos and he couldn't tell who needed his help.

Finchpaw shook her head and went to help her mentor Saltpelt and her friend Maizepaw, she unsheathed her claws again and clawed the eagles belly and slid to the other side. She flipped her head back and body, she charged at the eagle. When she had been a mouse-length away she slid twisted around the hawks leg and bit down.

"Palepaw!" Pinedusk yowled as the second hawk dove right for him. He leaped onto the hawks back right as it was about to thrash at Palepaw. The hawk screeched and attempted to shake Pinedusk off, but it didn't work. With a growl, Pinedusk bit down on the hawks back, clawing it so that it'd be weak enough to take down. Palepaw leapt onto it's wing, and he slid off immediately. Again, he lunged, grabbing it's wing with his claws. He was too weak to even bring it down, but he could try. He thrashed and thrashed.

The first hawk screeched and screeched, biting at the cats to get them off. It didn't imagine it to be this difficult. With another caw, it used it's talons to rip Finchpaw off, causing her front leg to bleed from a large cut it left. It pecked at Saltpelt's paws, hoping to get her off. It managed to get free from Saltpelt and Finchpaw. However, it struggled to get free of Maizepaw, and began to peck hard and voilently at Maizepaws legs, leaving large cuts. It's wounded body stung, but it would keep attacking until it got a decent meal.

Saltpelt fell to the ground, her paws torn to shreds by the large bird of prey's beak. Her white fur was soaked in blood, every pawstep hurting her, but she still hobbled over to grab her apprentice by the scruff and toss her in the direction of Ashwing. "Take care of her!" The warrior shouted, before lunging once again at the male hawk. This time, she went for its neck, knowing full well she ran the risk of being peck in the face.

Her paws were slippery with blood and it was hard to hold on, at this point, she didn't even know if her bites and attempts at clawing the hawk was even working.

Mothpaw noticed Saltpelt struggling with one of the bird fiends. The she-cat looked badly injured and the tabby apprentice wasn't sure how she was getting the strength to do anything. He darted towards the warrior to give her aid, listening as she shoved Finchpaw towards Ashwing. Claws outstretched, he hoped his added weight would help bring the hawk closer to it's demise. "Die feather brain!" he snarled, amber eyes blazing with fury.

Maizepaw yowled in pain as his legs were sliced by the hawk's beak. He clamped his jaw shut and gritted his teeth to prevent any more cries from escaping his mouth as he lunged forward and sunk his fangs into the bird's other wing. He ripped backward as hard as he could, hearing a snap somewhere in the creature's body and tasted the salty warmness of scarlet blood. He couldn't get away before the hawk's next attack at him, which he was sure was going to be aimed at his face.

ic: "We attack!" Sablestar answered Palepaw. She whipped around and rushed toward the hawk being buried by cats. She helped claw at the large bird. She skillfully dodged a talon swiping through the air in front of her face. Where had these eagles come from anyway?

Another hawk was busy tearing at Rowancloud's fur. The tom had his fur bristled as he swatted at it angrily, bleeding from a scratch on his shoulder and trying to back away toward the crowd of his Clanmates.

Mothpaw's assistance as greatly appreciated, the white tabby was barely holding on, uselessly tearing at the creature's feathers that covered it thickly. Trying to reach the bird's delicate skin under the downy layer felt impossible with her slick paws. So instead, she took to chomping and tearing with her jaws.

Foxpaw clenched his teeth down and hard, "Die." He said before pouncing at a hawk low to the ground, he was soon flung of by the massive bird, hitting his paw hard but Foxpaw had managed to cripple it, "Mothpaw try finish it off!" He called pointing his tail towards the flailing bird.
