Deadpaw's patrol (Open)

Cloverpool poked her head into the apprentices den. "Deadpaw, wake up time for a patrol." The tortoiseshell she cat backed out. "Anyone else wanna go on a patrol?" She meowed to no one in particular.

Moonpaw bounded out of the apprentices den, her pure white fur gleaming in the early light of the morning. "I do!" She meowed her multi-colored eyes flashing.

"I do too!" Thinpaw meowed waking up fast her ears pricked up as if she hadn't been sleeping at all. She stood up and groomed herself

Deadpaw opened his eyes only slightly and saw that Cloverpool wanted him to go on patrol. He growled under his breath, but saw Moonpaw shoot out of her nest to join, and he would never turn down a bit of time with Moonpaw. He stood up and walked over to the camp entrance stretching each of his limbs one at a time. "Where are we headed?" he asked groggily.

Cloverpool smiled. "Were going hunting. And with new-leaf around the corner, lots of prey will be coming out, look the snow has already started to melt and theres green plants from under them." The warrior meowed flicking her tail.

Moonpaw nodded, and stayed close to Deadpaw.

Deadpaw listened and purred, noting that newleaf would be quickly approaching. "Okay, after you." he mewed.

Cloverpool smiled and nodded. "Ok what can you all smell?" The she cat purred her voice like velvet, it could easily be used to soothe the tears of a kit, or help stop a fight. The gentle she cat gazed at the beauty of the newly growing plants.

Moonpaw sniffed the air. "It smells damp, because of the melting snow, but i can also smell some birds and wood mice." The she cat purred her voice was soft and gentle just like her mothers.

"I can smell a loners scent but it might be stale, and I can also smell some-" she smelled again "Oh and birds, rabbits, and some mice" she meowed a heartbeat later

Deadpaw nodded in agreement. "Same, but I also smell some voles." he mewed, his voice thick and coarse.

She nodded back looking around the quiet woods as she saw a small mouse under a tree, she got into a hunting pose stalking her prey. A heartbeat later she jumped up and caught the mouse "So what are we doing next?" she asked with the mouse hanging in her jaws

"Nice catch! let me see if I can find something.." Deadpaw mewed to Thinpaw. He scented again and smelled a vole, seeing a flicker of fur in the undergrowth. Deadpaw crouched and and stalked forward. When he was within a few tail lengths of his target he pounced on the vole and killed it quickly with a bite to the neck. He padded back to his patrol, his catch dangling in his jaws.

"Thanks" she meowed purring, when she saw him running back to catch up with the patrol she saw a vole in his jaws "Good job!" she meowed smiling

"Thanks" he mewed, his voice muffled with his catch. He set his catch down and looked to Moonpaw. "Your turn" he said with a slight purr of amusement in his voice.

Cloverpool purred. "Nice catch all of you." She smiled as she heard Deadpaw say it was Moonpaw's turn, then turned to Thinpaw. "Well this is a hunting patrol, so we are just gonna go hunting." She replied.

Moonpaw nodded and scented the air for prey. Scenting a finch, she settled into the right hunting crouch and stalked it until she was within pouncing distance. She crouched and sprang up and onto it and swiftly killed it. She padded back with the limp prey hanging from her mouth.

Thinpaw heard Cloverpool's compliment and smiled "Thanks" she meowed

"Nice catch, Moonpaw!" he complimented.
