Fracturedkit's Apprentice Ceremony

"Let all cats old enough to capture their own prey gather underneath Jaggedrock for a clan meeting!" Thrushstar yowled.

Fracturedkit slowly came from the nursery. She was nervous like she usually was and she quietly sat down . Her fur was a bit everywhere because the apprentice aged kit tried to avoid her mother so she wouldn’t groom her.

"Fracturedkit," Purred Frostwhisper as she followed her child out of the nursery. "Your fur is a mess, let me groom it for you." The white queen bent down and ran her tongue over Fracturedkit's soft fur.

Shatteredsoul soon padded out of the warrior's den and joined his mother and sister in the camp. "Mother, I don't think she likes it," the scrawny tom said. His voice was quiet and gentle, but had a hint of fierceness to it that was always there. Shatteredsoul wasn't a tom to be messed with. The younger warrior was starting to gradually talk more and more, but it was obvious that Shatteredsoul would never talk very much.

Fracturedkit blinked then squeaked in complaint "moooom stop " She mewed in a soft quiet for a moment before she scrambled out and closer to her brother out of reach of her mother's tongue" my fur is fine now mom " she mewed looking at her mother quietly before she looked up at her older brother before to the leader.

Shimmerheart stepped out of the nursery to see another kit ready to become an apprentice. How will I feel when my own kits are old enough to do the same? Just the thought was strange. My kits. She had never planned to have kits. Her whole life was spent dreaming of being a medicine cat, and with Gingerheart's visit that hope was shattered. But somehow, this life was better. Leopardfang was there for her. Thoughts settled for now, the glossy black she-cat sat down to watch the ceremony.

Marigoldleaf padded out, sitting down.

"Tonight we gather to make this kit an apprentice," Thrushstar said. "Fracturedkit, from now until you receive your warrior name, you shall be known as Fracturedpaw. Your mentor will be Marigoldleaf. May she teach you everything she knows." With that, Thrushstar leaped down to let the clan finish the ceremony.

Mudfoot chanted the apprentice's new name, glad she was assigned such a great mentor. A bit of sadness overwhelmed him, but he shook away the thoughts.
