The Fierce Hunter {Open}

A young kitten crouched near the freshkill pile, green eyes flickering from one dead animal to the next. The kitten's tail swished, ears flickering as he acknowledged the busy camp and the noise that it brought. However, he put that noise to the back of his mind. Starlingkit was hunting, and this frog didn't stand a chance! In a sudden movement, he pushed off the ground with his hind legs and landed a good distance away from his target. Obviously miss judging the distance and his ability to leap. Yet, the kitten regained his footing and scrambled the rest of the distance to the already-dead frog.

"I did it!" He purred, tossing the frog into the air before making an attempt to catch it in his mouth. Unfortunately, he was still too small. So instead the freshkill hit Starlingkit in the head. Immediately, he fluffed his fur and growled at the amphibian. His antics most likely not going unnoticed by the kitten's clanmates.

Mudpaw sat a few lengths away from the fresh kill pile, watching the kit. Such spunk. He gave a purr and trotted over to the kit. "Nice catch." The tom chuckled.

Starlingkit raised his head from the offending frog, and turned to look at the apprentice who had been watching him play with the freshkill. At first he was surprized that he wasn't admonished for his actions, but ended up brushing it away. "You think?" The kitten asked excitedly, ears perked.

"Of course. You'll be a fine warrior someday." He meowed happily. "Want to be in a friendly competition with me? It'll be fun!"

The kitten tilted his head, and took a few steps toward Mudpaw. "What kinda compe-tiun?" Starlingkit asked, butchering the pronunciation of competition. His dark tail flickering as he considered what it could possibly be. The apprentice had better practice with hunting, but it wouldn't stop the kitten from trying. He loved hunting.

"Hmm, how about whoever can catch a piece of prey the fastest wins? But we have to stay in the camp. Sound good?" Mudpaw purred and smiled, enjoying the day.

The kitten nodded frantic. He liked this idea. If the apprentice said that he did a good job, then he'd definitely win. "Readysetgo!" The kitten quickly mewed, before turning away, and leaping on a piece of freshkill. "I win!"

Before Mudpaw had a chance to look for prey the kitten had already caught something. "See, I told you that you would make a fine warrior someday." He purred. "Now will you do the honors of putting your kill in the kill pile?" Mudpaw pointed his nose towards the other food.

The kitten turned around, a bit confused. However, he picked up the frog by the foot, and moved it closer inwards into the pile of freshkill. Once he dropped it, the kitten raised his head proudly and began to strut around. "I'm going to be the best warrior ever!"

"Ya, maybe!" He said happily. Not strutting around like a kittypet though. He thought to himself, but was still happy for the kit.
