Barrenkit, Willowkit and Ripplekit's Apprentice Ceremony

Mistfeather leapt onto the old willow branch and raised her head high. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the willow branch for a Clan meeting!" Her voice cut through the regular chit-chat of the morning.

ooc: I got a message from Dew saying there was confusion over who gets Barrenkit as an apprentice. I don't care who gets who in the end, but I'll let Bloom decide. It's her mentor after all.
Bloom, is there anyone you'd prefer to have as a mentor?

Slushpaw screamed in happiness. "EVERYONE IN HERE GET TO THE WILLOWBRANCH!" She screamed into the nursery. She bounced around everywhere, so happy, and so excited for her brother and friend. She knew it was time- she talked to some warriors who figured out that the mistake of why Ripplekit and Barrenkit weren't apprentices.

Ripplekit shot his head up. His eyes were wide.
"Wha- What's going on?" He mumbled as he rolled out of his nest. Then he looked out and saw gathering cats. His jaw dropped and he rushed past Slushpaw and bounded into the clearing.

Salmonstripe slowly trudged out of the shady nursery, clicking her tounge. "No, no no! You need to look your best." She padded after Ripplekit, trying to lick his fur clean.

Willowkit padded out after her mother. She looked around the camp and then up at the Willow branch where the deputy Mistfeather was. She recalled a time before her mother gave her to her father, when she was trying to get her siblings and Barrenkit back to camp, and they fell into the river. Smiling she sat next to her brother Ripplekit and her denmate Barrenkit.

Barrenkit shook moss from his long, multi-colored fur as he trudged sleepily out of the nursery. The tom blinked his bleak hazel eyes as he squinted in the sunlight. Realizing what was going on, the tom padded over to the group of cats and rushed to groom his fur.

OOC: Um I believe Troutstep was going to be his mentor, so lets go with that if you don't mind.

"Barrenkit, Willowkit, Ripplekit, please step forward," the deputy purred and waited for the trio to step towards her.

"You have all reached the age of six moons, and are ready to be apprenticed. From this day forth, until you receive your warrior names, you shall be known as Barrenpaw, Willowpaw, and Ripplepaw. Your mentors will be Troutstep, Aspenberry, and Whitefoot. I expect they shall pass all of their wisdom and knowledge onto you." With those last words she stepped down from the old branch and nodded to the new apprentices before returning to her nest. Was she right to give Aspenberry an apprentice so early into his warriorship? Perhaps Willowpaw would teach the tom something about manners. Accepting her decision, she settled down in her nest for a short nap.

Aspenberry gave Mistfeather a very confused look as she leapt down from the willow. Why would she give him, of all cats, an apprentice? What would he even do with an apprentice? Make her join his eternal job of patrolling and hunting? He tentatively approached Willowpaw, his eyes holding a slightly concerned look. "Um... Let's do our best...?" he meowed and awkwardly touched his nose to her's.

Whitefoot who had been eyeing Ripplekit was astounded when his name was called for mentorship. Shouldering his way to the front he bent and touched noses with the young tom.

Ripplepaw almost let out a squeak of excitement as he touched noses with Whitefoot.

Willowpaw touched noses with her new mentor. He looked uncertain but then he said Um... Let's do our best...? and she was certain he didn't want an apprentice. "OK Aspenberry." She meowed politely and then dipped her head to tom> She padded over to her mother and her siblings as well as her denmate Barrenpaw.

IC: Troutstep was sleeping peacefully when he heard his sisters scream. His head shot up, amusing the camp was under attack but saw the cats gathering at the Willow Branch. He knew it was time for his siblings and Barrenkit to become apprentices and hoped he would be a mentor. He sat down, watching the kits sit with pride. When Troutstep heard his name, his head shot up. Really? You trust me enough to be a mentor? He was over filled with joy, which didn't normally happen. Me and Barrenpaw will be the best mentor and apprentice this clan has ever seen! he looked over at Whitefoot, then to Barrenpaw.
