Exploring the Territory

FeatherPaw watched LightningStrike closer. Copying him she stalked him. Creeping up behind she pounced on his back with sheathed claws and batted at his ears. "Like that? Er more or less." She jumped off him as she said that.

Lightningstrike wasn't quite concentrating hard enough, and jumped when his apprentice landed on him. "Yeah, like that." he meowed, a smile on his face. Standing up and shaking leaves from his pelt, he looked around.

FeatherPaw smiled and giggled as he jumped. Then she said. "Can I try hunting now?" She wiggled with excitement. Sniffing around for a mouse or something she waited for him to say yes hopefully.

Gazing over at Featherpaw, Lightningstrike chuckled as he sensed her excitement. "Yes, try it. It's fun!" he encouraged, carefully monitoring her position.

Smiling she stuck her head near the ground sniffing for any traces of any prey. Wandering towards a sandy area she spotted another mouse. Using the hunting technic she closed in. Staying still a minute near the mouse she pounce and quickly killed it. Picking it up she said behind a tiny bit of fur. "Yay!"

The young warrior beamed and took a look through his memories at her hunting crouch. "Perfect!" he exclaimed. "You made your first catch!" he mewed happily, scenting the air for more prey. The tom took one look at his apprentice and crouched. "I'm going to try and hunt this squirrel. Watch me carefully, because I have another technique." Lightningstrike explained quietly. Crawling up a nearby tree silently, he slithered on the branch until he reached the spot right above the squirrel. Cautiously, he made sure not to rustle any leaves and leaped down on the squirrel, biting and killing it. "See?" His words were muffled by the creature.

FeatherPaw smiled and then nodded. As she watched him she saw he moved differently only slightly. "So there are many hunting techniques for different kinds of prey?" Sniffing for a squirrel to try it on she sadly didn't scent any. Instead she saw a bird on a rock a little ways away. "How do you stalk birds?"

The tom sat down and curled his tail around his large paws. "Yes, about three or four." he mewed, answering her first question. "You stalk them and leap, grabbing onto their neck and wings." he explained.

FeatherPaw nodded and then tried the crouch on the thrush a ways away. Creeping slowly towards the thrush she jumped and grabbed it. Holding her second kill she returned happily. One mouse and a thrush. "Yay! I'm getting better!"

OOC: Let's say that they'd seen all of the territory.

Lightningstrike nodded and stood up. "We've seen all of the territory, so I guess we should go back to camp. Nice catch for the thrush!" he commented, glancing at the feathery creature.

OOC: Ok lol

FeatherPaw smiled and nodded grabbing her two kills. Behind the fur and feathers she said. "Ill ee pactice badle training tuhmarra?" She walked with him trying to keep her kills up high from the ground.

Lightningstrike considered this for a moment. "Sure." he meowed. Spotting the fresh kill almost dragging, he gave a mrrow of laughter. "Here, let me help." Waiting for a 'really?' look, he added, "Your mouth muscles will get stronger as you grow bigger, and you'll be able to carry more prey."

FeatherPaw smiled and sighed with relief as the weight was lifted off. Yawning she walked towards camp and nodded listening.

Lightningstrike padded into camp. Seeing Featherpaw yawn, he smiled. "Why don't you go get some sleep for right now?" he meowed, pointing his tail to the den.

Nodding she Luther fresh kill on the pile of other kills and walked off to sleep. Padding the den she circled and laid down. Then she closed her eyes to sleep.
