The shy one (open)

A newly born, shy Tom kit cautiously padded out of the nursery, jumping at everything that touched him. His little paw stepped in a mud puddle. He yanked it back quickly, then sniffed at the puddle. He let his tongue out and stuck it in the brown liquid. Blech! He pulled his head pack, and made a huge circle around the mud puddle, then continued his journey around the camp. He halted to a stop as a big pile lay in front of him. Wha? He touched a piece of fresh-kill in the pile. Then, he licked it...and then dragged the frog off of the pile. He pulled it to an edge of camp and started to gulp the slimy creature down. Soon enough, a creature approached him. The tabby looked up at the figure, and some hair on his neck bristled as he shyly crouched down.

Cloudypaw laughed a bit. The kit was so cute. "I don't know that you'll eat the whole thing just yet," she said. "Perhaps you should share it with someone. Where's your family?" The apprentice gave a soft purr to make sure the kit knew she wasn't really scolding him.

Moonkit slowly looked up at the strange looking apprentice. But I'm hungry...am I not allowed to eat? He thought. The Tom let out a weird noise of protest that sounded like a mix of a bird chirp, a pig snort, and a squeal, but suddenly quieted down. He was to shy to say anything, so he pushed the fresh kill to the she-cat. Maybe she wants to eat it. And...what's up with her weird pelt? Moonkit crouched down lower, backed up a little, and avoided eye contact by looking down at his paws.

Cloudypaw chuckled. "You can eat it, little one, but it looks like a lot for you. How about we share?" she asked with that small purr. She took a nibble and nudged the frog closer to the kit. "My name's Cloudypaw."

Moonkit didn't say anything for a while after Cloudypaw introduced herself. "Moon..." He whispered his name so quietly that only half of it was hear able. Even though he was hungry, he took no more bites of the frog. I'll eat it once she leaves, he thought as he stared at the food. I don't want her staring at me while I eat.

"Moonkit? That's a cute name!" Cloudypaw said with a smile. "If you ever need anything, just come find me, okay?" She might as well be kind. When the kit didn't eat, though, she sat up and looked away. Perhaps he was shy!

Moonkit nodded a little, then as Cloudypaw looked away, the Tom sneaked a bite out of his food. Mmm

While looking away, Cloudypaw nudged the food a little closer. She smiled. He was so cute!

A cute little angry face came onto Moonkit's face as he saw her push the frog closer to him. She looked away on purpose! He tabby pushed the food back to Cloudypaw.

Cloudypaw gave a laugh, pushed it back, and began to walk away. Stubborn, but shy. Still so cute. I like him!

Once Cloudypaw was gone, Moonkit scarfed down some of the frog. Once he was full, he didn't know what to do with the rest of the food, so he just left it there. I'm bored, what can I do? He found an abandoned moss ball that had earlier been played with by some other kits. Moonkit padded it back and forth between his two front paws and tried to go as fast as possible. Eventually, he ended up lying on his face with his but sticking up in the air and his tail waving around with the moss ball half torn up into pieces.

Cloudypaw turned back from her place and smiled. "Was it good? The frog?" She lit up when she saw the ball get destroyed. "Oh! Are you okay?" she asked as she rushed over. "Moonkit, are you okay, little one?"

Moonkit immediately got up and stared at the ball. "Y...yea," he whispered.

Cloudypaw sighed in relief. "You worried me there. Be careful, okay? You have to grow up strong for the Clan!"

Moonkit looked down and rubbed the dirt nervously with his paw. Though he said nothing, he still slightly nodded his head.
