Friendless

"River? No I can't but I can take you two to the stream right outside of camp." He replied to the two small kits.

Shimmerkit smiled and looked at Shallowkit. "Ok, let's go there!" She was excited to go even to the little stream.

Shallowkit grinned happily. "Thank you!" he meowed. Turning to Shimmerkit, he twitched an ear. "Not as good as the river, but we'll be able to leave camp soon, when we become apprentices."

"Alright, let's go." Midnightsky stood up and padded over to the fresh-kill pile and grabbed a fish, before leaving the camp with the two kits

Shimmerkit followed behind the warrior happily. This would be her first time near running water (yay what an achievement). "I wonder if there will be any tadpoles in the water?" She asked no one in particular.

Shallowkit padded out of camp beside Shimmerkit and the warrior. He heard the other kit speaking, and caught 'tadpoles' out of her words. "Tadpoles? Awesome!" he meowed enthusiastically.

"Probably a few tadpoles in there, maybe even a few small fish so you can try fishing." Midnightsky saw the stream. "Here you are."

Shallowkit sat at the edge of the stream, looking at the small fish. He grinned and leaped into the water clumsily, missing a fish by a mouse-length. "Aw! I missed!" he sighed.

Shimmerkit paused at the edge of the stream and watched the clear water swim past her. She stuck her tiny paw in. The cold water felt good on the warm day. She eventually brought her whole body in and started drinking. A tiny tadpole darted past her toung. She giggled a little and started swatting at every fish she saw, missing them all by a lot. Soon, she started splashing Shallowkit and laughing.

Midnightsky smiled and sat near the kits. But he started thinking about his own adopted kits, he never had time for them, now he felt guilty.

Shimmerkit glanced at the warrior sitting by the small stream. She could tell by his expression that something was wrong. Shimmerkit felt like she needed to cheer him up, so she started splashing him. "Ha ha! Your all wet now!" She mocked playfully.

Midnightsky shook himself off and smiled. "Oh you're gonna get it you little fur ball." He splashed the kits wet.

Shallowkit giggled and splashed the other cats playfully. This was fun!

Shimmerkit screamed and ran behind Shallowkit for protection. "Help me!" She yelled at him as water flew onto their little bodies. She started to splash Midnightsky as fast as she could. During this, her shoulder brushed against Shallowkit's. She felt a little tingling inside of her stomach and she suddenly became really shy in front of him.

Shallowkit stopped and felt Shimmerkit's shoulder brush against his. He felt his cheeks get hot, and his stomach flip.
