Wolfkit's Apprentice Ceremony

Thrushstripe quickly jumped onto the rock as he looked over the entire camp. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather under the Jaggedrock for a clan meeting!" he yowled. There was yet another kit who needed a ceremony, and Thrushstripe was glad to do it for him. They needed more apprentices.

Whiteshadow padded put of the warrior den and looked up. Spiritpaw padded over to her brother and stood. She never smiled, at least not much. Right now she had a neutral face with her dull amber eyes. Whiteshadow sat down and Spiritpaw sat down a little farther away. another apprentice Whiteshadow pondered.

Redshade perked his ears. Yeah, he knew this was it. Padding over to the nursery, he poked his head in to see Wolfkit gently licking a paw and using it to pat down his fur. Redshade rolled his eyes. "Are you almost done, furball? You're ceremony just got called." He huffed, making Wolfkit jump, who didn't know he had been there. The grey tom quickly padded over and followed his father outside, where they both sat down towards the front of the crowd, Wolfkit obviously a little closer up since it was his ceremony and he had to do stuff. You'd also think that what Redshade said was a light tease, since they were family and he was probably just being a friendly butt. No, he was just being a butt; get rid of the 'friendly' part. Now we're good.

As the cats gathered, Thrushstripe figured it was as good as any time to start the ceremony. "Tonight we gather to make Wolfkit an apprentice. Wolfkit from this day until you get your warrior name, you will be known as Wolfpaw. Your mentor shall be Whiteshadow," he spoke clearly, looking to the new warrior. "I believe he is ready for an apprentice, and may he teach you everything he knows." And with that, Thrushstripe leaped off the rock as the others celebrated for the new apprentice.

Whiteshadow padded forward and touched his new apprentices nose.
"Your gonna be a great warrior," he whispered.

Wolfkit's eyes widened in surprise. Whiteshadow? He had heard the name before and seen the tom wandering around a lot, doing warrior-stuff. He seemed pretty cool but...
Wolfkit glanced nervously back at his father before turning back and walking over to touch noses with his new mentor. He flinched slightly at the sudden encouragement, but gave a tiny nod and smiled.

Redshade narrowed his eyes. Whiteshadow never really talked with him, but generally he was a cat who got things done, so it was fine by him. Heck, he couldn't change his son's mentor if he wanted to anyways, so might as well deal with it. As the ceremony was ending, Redshade got up and walked over to Whiteshadow and Wolfkit. He nodded to the new mentor. "Don't soften him up too much." He huffed, eyes glittering with slight amusement. Wolfkit scrabbled his paws at the ground in embarrassment.

Whiteshadow turned to Redshade.
"Im not going to soften anything, you'll be proud of your son when he is a warrior, and don't worry too much," Whiteshadow stared Redshade right in the eye with his deep, blue almost black eyes.
"Wolfpaw will be the most amazing warrior Shadowclan has ever seen," Whiteshadow announced to Redshade and Wolfpaw. Then he smiled.
"Now, go get some rest, we'll head out in the morning and I will show you the territory, then if we have time, maybe start some hunting or battle training," Whiteshadow said, turning back to Wolfpaw.
