Nightpaw's Medicine Cat Ceremony

Swiftnose stood outside of the dark cave that led to the Moonstone. He took a deep breath and looked at Nightpaw. He was larger than his own mentor and a fine medicine cat apprentice, too. Both toms were very young, but the black medicine cat felt that it was time for his apprentice to take on his full name. Nightpaw would still be his apprentice, of course, and would take over full responsibility when Swiftnose retired or met an unfortunate end.

Nightpaw sighed as soon as the gaping Mothermouth came into view once more. He was finally getting his full name, since he had to wait since suddenly becoming a medicine cat apprentice. His skin rippled as excitement coursed through him. His mentor looked back to him, and he wondered what his name would become. He waited for Swiftnose to continue forth.

He continued onward when he saw Nightpaw return his look. He unflinchingly navigated through the maze of darkness, having memorized the path since young apprenticeship. When they finally reached the chamber of the blindingly bright Moostone, he stared for a little while at it and then brought his gaze to Nightpaw.

"I, Swiftnose, medicine cat of ThunderClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. He has trained hard to understand the ways of a medicine cat, and with your help he will serve his Clan for many moons. Nightpaw, do you promise to uphold the ways of a medicine cat, to stand apart from rivalry between Clan and Clan and to protect all cats equally, even at the cost of your life?"

Nightpaw followed Swiftnose through the darkness, knowing what lied ahead. Bringing himself before the Moonstone, he looked to his mentor, listening to every word he spoke, before giving him his full hearted answer. "I do." even though they were simple, they meant a lot to him. His mind flickered back to Ivypaw, was she now a warrior, was she more loyal to her clan? Did she even want to see him again? Shaking his thoughts, he turned his attention back to Swiftnose.

The excitement was starting to get to Swiftnose. Such a momentous occasion! [color=skyblue]"Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your true name as a medicine cat. Nightpaw, from this moment on you will be known as Nightfire. StarClan honors your dedication and sacrifice, and we welcome you as a full medicine cat of ThunderClan." He rested his muzzle on Nightfire's head after a bit of stretching and thought back to his own ceremony.

Nightfire bent down slightly, letting Swiftnose touch his head. He opened his dual colored eyes and smiled at his mentor. "Thank you Swiftnose" he mewed feeling like a giant
