Blackkit's Apprentice Ceremony

Dewstar was perched on top of the Highrock, feeling the cold breeze ruffle her short fur. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey join beneath the Highrock for a Clan meeting!"

Blackkit ran out of the nursery, she was ready for what was next. She couldn't wait to be able to battle. It just felt right in her mind, being able to kill, deliver that last blow. What made it seem so great though, was that at any moment she could die. She just felt that it would be amazing.

"Blackkit, you have reached the age of six moons and it is time for you to receive your warrior training. From this day on, you shall be known as Blackpaw and your mentor will be Ploverheart." Dewstar's ears flicked a little as she spoke and she waited for the new mentor and apprentice to touch noses.

Blackpaw looked around for her new mentor, ready to train with her. She just decided in the end to wait for her new mentor to come to her. It wouldn't be long until she found Blackpaw. It wouldn't be hard to find her, there weren't too many black cats, were there?

Ploverheart's already fluffy chest swelled with pride. He looked gratefully at Dewstar, getting to his feet and padding to the newly named Blackpaw. He purred warmly, touching noses with his new apprentice.
"Cuh-congratulations, Bluh-blackpaw. I hope you d-don't mind a stuh-stuh-stuttering cat."
He stammered out, smiling down at her.

Blackpaw shook her head. "I don't mind, just as long as it doesn't affect you while we train." she said. She didn't care if she got a mentor that couldn't hear, just as long as she could learn to fight. She had always loved the thought of being a warrior. She wondered what type of stories Ploverheart had, or if she had any.
