One Stormy Night... [Open]

The thunder boomed over head, and the lightning lit up in response. The bright light showcased the mighty clouds over head. Torrential rains poured down on the land, coming in heavy sheets. A small family of rouges sheltered underneath a small bush, their eyes watching the wide river lap up at their paws. The small grown cat fearfully picked up a completely brown kit in her jaws, then turned to gather a brown and white kitten who was being caught by the water.

The shivering 4 month old kit staggered toward his mother, desperately trying to struggle against the freezing water. His dark blue eyes darted towards his mother, who was desperately looking around in hopes of finding help, her jaw clenched around her other kitten. However, there was no help to be found in the pouring rain.

The kitten's tiny paws slipped on the branch he had been gripping. Promptly, the water rushed up to push the kitten into the river. His blue eyes shut against the muddy storm water. Cold paws spread wide to break to the surface. The kit's small lungs screamed for breath. 'I'm going to die!'

Finally, his head broke out of the water and into the air. Air filled his lungs before he went under again. This time, the rouge kit pushed off of the bottom with his hind legs. He broke to the surface with a loud gasp. Flailing paws met a small branch, and the kitten hauled himself so his forelegs grasped the branch tightly.

His wearily tiredness dulled his senses, so much, that he didn't feel it when the branch was caught on the edge of a bank. For when it had, the kitten had fell asleep.

The feeling of the river lazy trickling by his hind paws awoke the mud covered kitten. When the kit's dark blue eyes finally opened, he subconsciously noticed that the river had shrunken back to it's original volume. His ears vaguely picked up the sound of the river. The kitten shifted, breaking the mud covering his body into clumps.

However, what suppressed the cat the most, was that he couldn't move his muscles as much as he was used to. Perhaps it was that he was cold and his muscles were cramped up, or the fact that he was still a kitten. Either way, the kit couldn't move, and he was stuck dangling off of a branch, his hind paws where slightly dipped into the freezing water.

He couldn't stay like this, and he knew that. The muddy kit let out a few pitiful mews before falling silent. He didn't have the energy to cry out much. So he had to hope that some cat heard him.

Stormclaw padded through Riverclan territory, checking to see no invaders were nearby. He chose to not go in a patrol, feeling no need to be with a group. He went along the river, looking for its muddy calmness. The rain made it all muddy, but the calmness had taken it over. It was probably freezing, he poked a paw in, bringing it back out and shaking it off. Yup, it was definetely cold. He continued to walk, starting to ignore the things around him, with only a small distressed mew to disrupt his thoughts. He pricked his ears and listened for it again, but heard nothing. He looked around, but finding nothing, he tried to look closer. Everything looked clear except for a lump on a branch in the river, which he padded closer to. It was a little kit, he rushed closer, noting its small form not moving. He dove into the freezing river, using his strong legs to propel himself forward. He reached the branch, grabbing the kit and getting the slightest scent of rogue from it. He swam back to the shore, hauling himself out of the freezing water. He looked to the kit, not quite knowing what to do with it. Re-no Maplestar couldn't react bad to a kit right? He bounded back to camp, the kit firmly in his jaws.

He walked into camp, putting the small kit down. He called out to camp. "Anyone seen Lichencloud? This kit needs help, I found it in the river." he started to lick the kit, hoping it would get warmer.

Silverbreeze was sitting in camp quietly cleaning her fur. She looked at Stormclaw,her mate, as he came into camp. She at first didn't realize what he was carrying. She stopped and put her paw down before she quietly padded over and noticed the kit" I haven't seen Lichencloud"she mewed looking at the kit then Stormclaw "you found it in the river was there anycat nearby?"she mewed voice raised just slightly in worry.

"I didn't check, but if there was, she would have gotten her kit back, or at least called for help." he mewed. "But for now we need to feed it and have it warm. Since Lichencloud isn't here, could you go in the nursery just for at least a bit and warm him up? I'll bring something for him to eat later."

Silverbreeze nodded and mewed"of course"She mewed and gently picked the kit up by the scruff gently carrying it to the nursery. She laid the kit down gently and laid down too and started to warm the kit up.

Stormclaw gave the kit to his mate, before rushing over to the freshkill pile. Since it was a new kit, he would try not a fish, but a tiny vole that they had caught on Sunningrocks. Vole seemed more like something a rogue would catch, and the kit would be more used to than fish. He picked up the tiny vole and brought it to the nursery, setting it down for when the kit was hungry.

The muddy kitten stayed still has his savior carried him to whereever the older cat came from. He didn't argue at all. He was too cold and tired to fight back. Not that he wanted to. He guessed that these cats were not tring to kill him, but where wanting to save him instead. Which was weird because to them, he was just another petty mouth to feed, right?

The kit didn't make a sound as the other cat licked his dirty pelt in an attempt to warm him. He didn't want to object the help. As much as the kit side of himself squealed that he'd be fine, the well trained rouge side of him knew better than to shove away the assistance. He flinched slightly as another pair of jaws gripped his scruf, but instantly relaxed as the warm air of the den met his wet, and muddy fur.

Once again another tou he stroked his fur. However, it was much softer then the first one. It reminded him of his mother. 'Mama!' had she survived? What about his sibling? Did she make it? Panic started in his chest. 'I have to go save them!' the small kitten willed his tiny muscles to move, to respond to his wishes. But the only action he received from his paws was a small twitch.

'It's cold...

Silverbreeze stopped her gentle rasping of her tongue against the muddy kit's fur. She watched it's paw twitch and she looked at Stormclaw then the kit with worried eyes before she continued to warm the kit.

As the licking continued again after a short break, the kitten ultimately decided that he would wait until he was better to go look for his mother and littermate. They must have made it. Right? Right! 'Mom wouldn't have risked my sister's life. I'm sure they'll be fine.' Slowly but surely, the male kitten regained his body heat. Warming his muscles to the point where he could control them.

He slowly opened his dark blue orbs to the sight of the warm nursery. He obviously didn't recognize the den, and was alarmed for a moment, before the rhythm of his fur being cleaned soothed his thoughts. He glanced around without moving his head. Not wanting to alert the older cat of his wakefulness.

The well woven den was complete with soft bedding and fresh-kill a few mouse lengths away from his eyes. 'Perhaps this is a rouge den. But why would another rouge want to take him in? He was just another mouth to feed. Especially in leafbare!' Inhaling, the kit turned his somewhat dizzy head to face the older cat.

"Where am I? How far away from home am I? Who are you?"

Silverbreeze stopped warming the kit and loooked at him"Your in Riverclan campe"she mewed gently. "As far as how far are you from home i'm not sure and i'm Silverbreeze"she mewed kindly looking at the kit with warm and kind icy blue eyes.
