Perched once more on the Highrock was Dewstar, who yowled loudly to summon her Clan. Today, she had different news for the Clan- very exciting, happy news. She felt a smile flicker across her face and she didn't try to hide it.

Spottedfeather looked up from her mouse, excited that Dewstar was making the announcement. She smiled to herself and took the last bite of her freshkill. Getting up, her swollen belly swung at the movement, making her somewhat waddle to the Highrock. She could still move around if she wanted to. She sat once again, looking up at Dewstar.

Spottedflight also cast a glance upward, noticing that Dewstar wasn't calling a ceremony this time. She flicked an ear in irritation, having to leave her vole, but soon realized it must be a happy occasion, because Dewstar was nearly smiling. Spottedfeather's kits? she thought, noticing the other warrior's belly had swollen considerably in the past moon. She'd be moving into the queen's den soon.

Specklepaw soon emerged, a tired expression painting her features as she padded to the foot of highrock and sat.

Rookpaw bounded out of the apprentice den and over to her mother. She skidded to a stop and purred as she sat close to Spottedfeather. The black apprentice looked up at her mother lovingly. She turned her silvery gaze to Dewstar and waited happily for the annoucement.

Stormpaw looked up from eating a mouse she had recently got. She looked at Dewstar with curiosity .

Dewstar began to speak, her voice a rumbling purr. "As most of you know, our deputy, Spottedfeather, is going to have kits. While she is preparing for the arrival and caring for these kits, she can not fulfill her duties. I announce the name of the cat to take her place during this period of time: Spottedflight shall take her place until Spottedfeather is once again fit to be deputy." She let the Clan murmur their congratulations to both she-cats and then continued. "Spottedflight, I trust you will do just as well as Spottedfeather as deputy; you are an excellent and kind warrior and you exhibit great patience."

"Thank you Dewstar, and I trust Spottedflight will do great in my place, while I am caring for my kits." Spottedfeather smiled and padded up to Spottedflight and purred. "You will do great. You are a great cat." she murmured to her, meaning every word.

Spottedflight couldn't help but beam a bit as she was giving the responsibility. "Thank you, Dewstar. I'll do my best," she mewed. The warrior then sat in place, noticing Spottedfeather come up to her. She purred as well, "Thank you, and as are you. You'll be a great mother," she mewed with a smile. They needed good mothers in this clan, she thought.
