Mass ShadowClan Apprentice Training: Partol

Silverpaw sniffed the air. "I smell it! It smells weird," she said, wrinkling her nose.

Redpaw scrunched up his nose as well. "What even...They smell like dung! Is this what rabbits smell like!?" He growled, shaking his head in an attempt to rid the smell from his senses. "No...They must be rolling in it! Euck!"

Maplepaw smelled the border, nodding. He kept somewhat close to her brother, looking around in the crowd.

Shadepaw shrugged. He'd already smelled it and he had to agree that WindClan smelled HORRIBLE.

Lionpaw recoiled fTom the smell. "Ugh!" He gagged. "That smells horribly disgusting. How can WindClan even withstand the smell of all that rabbit smell!?"

Silverpaw nodded in agreement. "That's the word I was looking for. Horrible!"

Cormorantpaw, being here the whole time, took a whiff of the WindClan border. "It doesn't smell all that bad... I mean, if you compare it to this dead lizard I found the other day." Her eyes wandered to what looked liked a white/gray ball of fluff. Could that be... A rabbit? "It'd still be nice to sink my teeth into one of those rabbits though..." Her mouth slightly watered.

Silverpaw frowned. "It does look nice and fat... but I'll leave that to WindClan."

Scorchpaw who had followed them silently sniffed the air. "Rabbit is really chewy." He remembered. "I don't know how Windclan can stand to be right in the open on spiky heather ground, those rabbit chasers.

Redpaw rolled his eyes. Oh shut up, he thought. "Because you know all about what the territory feels like and what their prey tastes like." He retorted, glaring at Scorchpaw. But before the tom could snap something back, Redpaw looked back at Nightstar. He tipped his head. "Though he does have a point...Isn't it a little...Well, stupid to try to hunt prey on open ground where everything in the territory can see you?" The apprentice asked.

Scorchpaw shot a glare at Redpaw but held his tongue, being that the leader of Shadowclan was here. He shook his black teased head and stared out to the horizon.

Nightstar watched the apprentices reactions with mild amusement, as a question was directed to her, the leader turned to glance towards Redpaw. "Their hunting technique is slightly different then our own." Nightstar dropped into a hunting crouch, known by most and almost all of the cats in the forest and pretty much the world. "You see, WindClan's hunting style relies on the hunter's stealth and speed." The leader's hackles rose, as she mimicked a cat about ready to spring forward. "WindClan cats are usually rather small, which makes it easier for running. Not to mention their, hind legs are highly powerful, giving them the ability to jump higher as well as contributing to their speed. So they could be farther away from their prey when they leap."

Nightstar straitened back up, then turned towards where she knew the border with ThunderClan lay. "So it doesn't matter if they are seen or not, because they'll make it up with speed." Question answered, Nightstar continued forward, slowly breaking into a run. As usual, she did not wait for the other apprentices to follow. As she ran, Nightstar thought about the exchange between Redpaw and Scorchpaw.

The two obviously did not enjoy each other's presence. Something had to have gone down between the two, and if they keep this up, and it starts interfering with any clan activities she would have a personal chat with both of them. Interclan rivalries are not what they need right now. ShadowClan has bigger enemies to worry about.

Silverpaw ran after Nightstar, wondering where they were going next.

Reluctant to leave what could have been a nice rabbit meal behind, Cormorantpaw padded after the ShadowClan leader.

Scorchpaw followed after Nightstar, Silverpaw and Cormorantpaw in a paced run. Grinning, the dark grey and black apprentice put on a sprint, overtaking Cormorant kit using his black tabby legs, that were rather long. Once he reached Silverpaw, he began to slow. Nightstar was too far ahead and he was starting to lose breath, but itvwas nice to have a good sprint.

Redpaw took up the rear of the line of apprentices, looking from side to side as if watching for enemy cats as they ran along the borders.
