Reedheart gave the kits an appraising look. "You haven't been told the story?" he asked. Well, who better to tell them? He didn't wait for a reply before starting. "Well, long ago, there were no Clans or borders. Cats lived in small groups and weren't bound by the Code, and they constantly fought with one another. One night, they agreed to meet at Fourtrees under the full moon, and there a great battle was fought... lots of cats died that night, and when the battle was done the spirits of the fallen rose and told the survivors that they had to unite or die, and they gave the cats terrible visions of the future to come if they didn't..."

The warrior paused for a moment, looking over each kit. He hoped he wasn't scaring them. "Five cats came forward--Thunder, River, Wind, Shadow, and Sky--and said they could unite the forest with their strength and lead them through the times ahead. Instead, the spirits told them that they could all live separately, as Clans. The spirits gave them the Warrior Code to live by, the five nine lives, and told them that at every full moon they would again meet at Fourtrees for a night of peace. The spirits then ascended into the sky and formed Silverpelt, forming StarClan." Reedheart wrapped his tail around his paws as he finished. "So that is our Gathering, little ones. A night of peace to honor tradition and our fallen kindred, from every corner of the territories our ancestors formed. It seems like some Clans have forgotten about that, though."

Sandkit had settled down next to Hazelkit to listen to the story, his fur sticking up at the beginning when Reedheart spoke about the big battle. He relaxed some ad the story went on, but his eyes were full of awe.

Hazelkit gasped."So for one night there is peace? Who are the cats who have forgotten?" She was confused on why anyone couldn't stand one night of not fighting.

As Reedheart spoke, Cinderfur sat down and continued to eat her little fish she had almost forgotten about. She felt pretty stupid for forgetting, but she was glad she remembered because it was still delicious. There was nothing better than fresh fresh-kill and when he got done speaking, she looked back up at the kits. "Most of the cats in the other clans. The leaders like to dispute a lot as well. That last Gathering I went to there was a lot going on between the Shadowclan leader and the Windclan leader. I'm surprised Starclan didn't do anything at that point," she mewed, sticking her opinion in there just as a simple remark. It did worry her to watch them argue like they did, but hey. It seemed like all the clans had some kind of beef on Shadowclan these days. Those gross, rotten-smelling snakes.

Hazelkit looked slightly confused. "So they come in peace just to argue about stuff?" she didn't understamd why they would declare peace to do that.

Amberkit was overwhelmed. "Do those cats LIKE to eat crow-food?" She asked, disgusted.
