Someone else. Some other cat that wasn't Froststar. Because as she sat in the barn with her head resting on her paws, watching two small gray kits play together, she felt utterly hopeless and lost. Froststar was never meant to be a parent. Her mother had always been the perfect example for a queen, but Froststar had always had the mindset of a warrior, never of a queen. Granted, she would die to protect her clanmates, and with one of her lives she had been given motherhood- but here she sat on a soft straw bed, completely unsure of herself. She contemplated how she got here. It had all started with that stupid night in the barn. Had she intended for anything to happen? Of course not. And it wasn't long after that whenever she realized she was carrying kits. Soon after she was forced to leave for the time being, leaving Silvershade in charge while she journeyed off without an explanation. Her clan would begin to wonder, and she couldn't have that. It was safer if she was alone. She had decided not to tell Sagestar about the kits; they were her problem, and she doubted he would even care. Anyway, it would be best if he had nothing to do with her from now on. So she had been hiding in the barn for months, enjoying the easy prey and the warm, dry surroundings while her belly grew bigger each day and she grew more panicked. Then the day finally came when she had the kits. (childbirth was nothing like a battle, the pain was totally different and much more extreme.) One kit had been much like her father, with soft gray tabby fur and, later, bright green eyes. Froststar had named her Mistkit. Her brother, a somewhat larger kit than his sister had a dark gray coat and strange amber eyes that eerily reminded Froststar of someone she once knew, had been called Cloudkit. It didn't take long for the kits to begin walking and talking and exploring- and of course, fighting. When Froststar looked at them it was hard for her to see anything more than the mistake she had made, and she desperately wondered where her loving motherly instincts were. She had figured they would just randomly appear, but that hadn't been the case thus far. The leader could only hope they'd show up eventually, or she could chalk herself up as the worst mother in existence. ______________________________________ forever nostalgic

"I am Miststar! Leader of BarnClan! And I will stop you, you big mouse-brain!" A small, gray tabby kit leaped up out of nowhere onto her mother's back, a fierce look in her eyes as she excitedly stared down at her brother. She honestly had no idea what game she was playing with Cloudkit. She was just making this up as she went. "You better run!" She laughed and jumped off Froststar, soft paws outreaching as she made a leap to tackle the dark gray kit. Meanwhile, there was a tom walking his way up to Highstones, passing by the barn. He heard the familiar mewl of kits and would've placed as some rogue queen and forgotten about, hadn't the young one's words seemed so warrior like. So the tabby stopped and oaddes to the entrance, just poking his head in. Well, if they were clan cats, their scent was overwhelmed a while ago. He couldn't see the queen, but he could see the two kits, watching them carefully. The darker tom, especially. ______________________________________

Froststar looked up at Mistkit, chuckling as she raised an eyebrow in amusement. "BarnClan, eh? Can I be the deputy of the great BarnClan?" She asked the kit, pouting slightly in a dramatic beg. Suddenly, soft paws tapped her against the side. She turned her head to see a frowning Cloudkit using her stomach to stand up. "Why would you want to be in BarnClan? We all know that CloudClan is much stronger. Probably because I'm leading." He mewled, rolling his eyes dramatically. As Mistkit jumped on his back he let out a soft growl and rolled over so he could get up again, without the small she-cat grabbing on to him. "You're crazy, Miststar! I'm not scared of you!" There was a gleam in his amber eyes as he reached out a single paw and bopped his sister on the nose. Froststar couldn't help but smile at the two kits antics. ______________________________________ forever nostalgic

Mistkit's eyes brightened up excitedly as she looked up at her mother, "Of course you can!" she mewed, batting her paw at Froststar's ear gently, but excitedly. "We'll be the strongest clan in the forest!" The she-kit tripped a little on herself and frowned over at her brother, "CloudClan? What kinda name is that?" She scoffed, though because of her light voice, it came out as more of a squeak. Mistkit squirmed and ducked away when he bopped her, wrinkling her nose. "Sooo, we meet again, Cloudstar!" She bent down low and fluffed up her tail, whishing it around playfully, "You should be!" The kit laughed and batting her paw at him. Sagestar, meanwhile, walked through the shadows in the back, leaping up unto a few blocks of hay so he could get a good look at them from above. ______________________________________

Froststar's eyes were bright and she let out a soft chuckle, watching the kit trip over herself. Perhaps she wasn't the best with kits, but she couldn't be the worst mother, right? Probably not. "The best name ever, because it's my name. A whole clan of just me me me. That makes it the bestest clan." Cloudkit stuck his chin up high with pride. After a moment, he looked over at his sister again and immediately dropped into a wildly incorrect crouch. His fluffy tail moved back and forth as he watched his sister closely. "It's been so long, Miststar. I haven't gotten to beat you in battle in forever! I will now, though." He attempted to dodge her paw, but moving back he tripped over his own feet and fell backward on his tail. Clearing his throat, he jumped up again and tried to tackle Mistkit- Miststar. While he moved towards her, he caught movement in the corner of his vision. Quickly he looked up and noticed a unfamiliar tom. Curious, Cloudkit could do nothing but eye the cat, though he didn't say anything. ______________________________________ forever nostalgic
