Broken Momentum

Ooc: A little topic Grey and possibly Coon are helping me out with, since Lionstar needs to lose another life. He has too many for his age and needs to lose one for once without random events like teleporting foxes/badgers :I

Ic: Lionstar sighed, padding through the territory, his paws dragging slightly on the leaves underneath. He had new things to think about, and with his slowing brain due to age, it was becoming tiresome for the aging tom. Was Thunderclan really prepared to fight Shadowclan for Skyclan territory? They had only just recovered from the battle for Sunningrocks against Riverclan, which they had pridefully won. Tensions between the clans were getting higher, and Thunderclan had been the only clan at the latest gathering without new apprentices to announce. His clan had few kits to grow into Warriors, and the number wasn't getting any bigger. Plus, he found himself growing older and weaker by each passing moon, yet he still had eight remaining lives. Mosspelt himself was a Senior Warrior, so perhaps it was time for him to take over.

The Thunderpath seemed particularly busy today, so Lionstar paid extra caution to the border as he passed by. Suddenly he thought he heard something on the other side. Perking his ears, the tom quickly leaped behind a nearby bush, watching. Was that a rabbit in the distance on Windclan's territory? Heading straight for the Thunderpath, too.

Suddenly, a calico she-cat burst out, her long fur plastered onto her skin from the wind and her green eyes narrowed as the air hit her eyes making them tear slightly, her paws scraping on the ground every time she launched herself forwards, her mind focused on the rabbit she was chasing, unconsciously bursting onto the thunderpath, the roar of monsters muffled to her, but as the rabbit disappeared from her senses as she realized a monster hurtling towards her.


OOC: Is it ok if Lion saves her but looses his life that way and then gets into a fight?

Ooc: Sure.

Ic: Lionstar raised his head in alarm, spotting the monster faster than her. Sure she has just almost passed the border, but he couldn't just sit there and watch a cat get crushed by a monster! "Watch out!" He hissed, leaping out and slamming his head against Patcheye, a force strong enough to send her whirling backwards. His claws tripped on impact, causing him to fall, and as soon as he was back up on his feet he felt a sudden shock go through his body as something huge slammed into him. Sharp pains filtered through his muscles, but disappeared quickly as everything went black, his body collapsing on the Thunderpath. Blood trickled from his mouth, cuts and bruises appearing as his body rolled to a stop. Blood was smeared from where he was tossed forward by the monster, and Twoleg shouting could be heard farther away as the same Monster began to slow down. If Lionstar wasn't dragged into cover quick, who knows what the Twolegs would do? They were crazy in the cats' eyes, after all.

'No!" the Windclan warrior screeched running onto the thunderpath again, her heart still racing and it seemed it'd pop out of her mouth from all the pounding, she quickly wrapped her maw around the elder toms bloody scruff, she felt so guilty, "It should've been me that got hit by the monster!' she muffled sadly, she hadn't known this cat was Thunderclan's leader, "No..." she repeated dragging the cat into the brush of Thunderclan's territory, she had to go this way since that was the only area that had cover. "I-I'm so sorry.." she apologized, it hurt so much to see a cat die right infront of her.

Lionstar opened his eyes, glancing around. Where was he? Shutting them again, he tried to focus before standing up. Almost instantly, he let out a grunt of pain. His whole body was aching all over, and his fur smelled like the Thunderpath...Oh no, had he been hit? Did Patcheye make it back over before the Monster was able to hit them? Looking around, he knew his death was so, as he recognized the familiar land of Starclan, where he had lost his first life to a tree branch. With a sigh, a sat down, waiting as the starry spirit of his father, Snowbreeze, appeared in the distance, padding over. The tom sighed, looking at him, waiting for him to say something. Lionstar looked up, gazing into his father's identical eyes. "I'm sorry...I gave my life to a Windclan warrior. I didn't-"
"You did the right thing. A leader's lives don't always go to their clan, you know. Sometimes they are lost in battles, sometimes in accidents. You lost your eight life saving another, and that is very noble." With that, Snowbreeze pressed his nose to Lionstar's head, and pain returned to the old leader's body. He shut his eyes, reopening them in Thunderclan territory. With a grumble, Lionstar slowly looked up, making out the blurry figure of Patcheye. She had brought him over to cover, though she was still on Thunderclan land. But he had no strength left to fight, not after being hit so hard. Many wounds were even still bleeding on him, especially a rather deep one on his side where he was hit the hardest.

Tears stained her calico fur regret tearing her pelt she still thought the tom was still dead, though all she could do was lick the wounds clean from potential infection and place cobwebs, which was the only knowledge one warrior had. "He'd still be alive if I haven't chased that rabbit!" she thought angrily, the wounds still bled tremendously so she thought it was futile trying to save the cat, only to notice he groaned "What? you're alive?!" she meowed astonishment plastering her voice.

"Sort of...Hey, you're...Patcheye?" Lionstar grumbled, shifting slightly. The blur cleared and he fully recognized the Windclan cat. He had seen her many times at gatherings. "It's okay." He rasped, lifting his head. "You shouldn't be here...Go home. You're Windclan, right? I'll be fine...I may be old but I still have...7 lives..." The tom coughed, struggling to his paws. Half-way up though, he collapsed again, growling to himself. He didn't want to be escorted home, not by an enemy. But he could barely move...

'Yes, I am Patcheye, glad to meet you." she smiled happily she looked into the toms eyes, as if seeing if he was alright "I can't go, even if you are a leader, you cannot go home in your condition! do you want to loose more lives?!" she meowed angrily as if this cat was insane. "How about this, I escort you home, and make sure you are truly alright, then I leave, everybody's happy" she meowed. "You should at least rest for a little and calm down" she meowed, licking down the toms ginger fur caringly.

Lionstar rolled his eyes, a little surprised that the she-cat cared so much for his safety. Then again, he supposed he had just basically saved her life, so she was probably just repaying him. Still, Windclan seemed to hate Thunderclan at the moment, so it shocked him a little. He sighed, once again trying to get up, stumbling slightly in the process but getting to his paws. "Fine...I understand. But make sure you don't stick around...We don't need anyone getting the wrong idea. Tensions are high between the clans..." He meowed, leaning on her slightly for support. "Camp's that way." He flicked his tail in the direction he meant, farther into the territory. As they began walking, he lowered his head and muttered quietly, "I apologize for having to have you help me back. I'm not as young as I used to be."

"I understand, since Skyclan disappeared it seemed to make matters worse, it seems to me Skyclan's disappearance is a curse upon all the clans" she meowed she smiled glad that she could help the leader, plus he saved her life and she appreciated it greatly. "It's no problem! I'm not carrying it as if it was a burden to help you, I think of it as more a partner ship between Thunderclan and Windclan, maybe if we do this, that'll result in less border quarrels." She didn't mind the elderly leader to put weight on her shoulder. Somehow, she felt the presence of the leader to be reassuring.

Ooc: Why does this remind me of a little girl-scout helping some elderly man across the street?

Ic: "I doubt it, but I thank you anyways for the help...Raccoonstar probably will think I'm meddling in some way, so this won't even matter. Perhaps it's better if you just don't talk about it. Things are bad enough as it is without one of my clanmates blaming you for the loss of one of my lives, or Windclan thinking I was trying to attack you instead. Wherever imagination takes them, I suppose..." The tom explained, looking around. It wouldn't take long to get to camp as long as they kept going this way. Patcheye could go back to her own territory as soon as they got near the entrance. As much as he hated to lie to his clanmates, if he told them a windclan cat brought him here, some of them may assume the worse, and he didn't have the strength to explain. Right now, he just wanted to rest and have his wounds heal. Hopefully Brightpaw wouldn't be too busy.

"I can talk to Raccoonstar about it if she ever thinks that! though she holds me dearly to her, ever since my sister disappeared and my father left for Starclan..." she trailed off a bit, her fathers passing really pained her in her heart, shaking the thoughts away so returned to the situation "Well, your clanmates will eventually understand, though if they really are warriors they should know how to correctly distinguish marks from being hit from a monster and a Windclan warriors claws. "Anyways, once we get to your camp you may want to find a way to cover my scent trail, or I can find a way, so I they don't run after me in pursuit and start a dispute between Thunderclan and Windclan" she meowed, she was a deep thinker, which tended to be a good thing when it came to situations like these.

Lionstar let out a huff. He couldn't tell her what to do, since he wasn't her leader, plus she had a point.  "The blood scent as well as the scent of the monster should cover up your smell as long as you take the same path back. And I can take it from here." He replied, pausing. The camp entrance wasn't too far up ahead, and he didn't want her to memorize the route to the camp, whether she was helping him or not. "Some one will come out here soon if I take too long to make my way back in there. I won't mention your name, but you got a point in telling them what happened."

"Alright" she nodded a smile wide on her face " am glad I finally got to help you, and I never really said thank you for saving me from that monster. you really did save my clan from a lot of pain." her green eyes once again locked with the tom's her calico pelt being brushed from the wind and the tom's fur moving against hers. "I trust you to cover up the story, alright other wise I won't hold back any mercy!" she meowed a slight smirk, "Like I said, I don't want any feuds between our clan as of now." she sighed slightly, not too noticeable though.

"Right. May Starclan light your path." He meowed, nodding in dismissal. Things would go back to normal as soon as he healed, though with the loss of another life, it just proved how much slower and weaker he was becoming. Perhaps it was time...Time to give up his position. Once his wounds mended and he regained his strength, Lionstar decided he would then call a meeting for the announcement of his retirement.
