Hunting Patrol

Now she was determined that she was going to catch something so she locates the smell of another piece of pray. This time it was a squirrel and she was not about to let it get away like with the mouse. She stalked toward it carefully. A twig snapped under her paw and the squirrel bolted up the nearest tree. She sighed and searched for another sent.

The member 'Swiftshadow (Swiftpelt)' has done the following action : Dices roll

Not even thinking to ask Swiftpaw caught the sent of a mouse a short distance away and stalked it. She found it nibbling away with it's back toward her. she prepared to pounce and suddenly lept forward catching the mouse between her paws! She finished it of and then looked up at the sky. She whispered, "thank you Starclan." She picked up the mouse and proudly walked over to her mentor.

"Good job, Swiftpaw!" Embershade cheered her. "Let's catch one more piece of prey, and move on." She caught scent of a squirrel. She sighted it among the leaves, and got into hunters crouch. She stalked it, until she pounced. She felt her claws slice into its skin, and dropped giving it a killing bite. She padded to where her mouse was, and buried the squirrel with it. "Now you try!" Embershade meowed.

Swiftpaw pricked her ears, something small was scampering in the undergrowth. She smelled it now as she got a little closer. a nice size squirrel was looking around on the forest floor. She got close enough to pounce and suddenly a gust of wind blew behind her. The squirrel sat up at the sudden smell that the wind brought and ran away before Swiftpaw could react. She shivered at the cold blast of air.

Dewclaw's fur fluffed up as she spa the feathers out of her mouth. She headed in a different direction than the others; it'd be best to cover more ground. Before she had a chance to react, a squirrel shot past her paw. It had obviously seen her before she saw it, and she sighed and sat under a tree to rest.

OOC: I guess this is just bad luck, Dew. Bad luck.

IC: "That was so close! Try one more, and make sure to come at the prey down-wind so it doesn't scent you." Embershade suggested.

Swiftpaw nodded and went back to hunting. So many things to think about... balance, move lightly, stay downwind, tail to balance, no sound... It seemed strange that Warriors were so good at hunting when there was so much to think about.

Swiftpaw caught the sent of a mouse and stalked it repeating what she needed to do in her head and then she realized: im just over thinking it! she calmed her thoughts and focused on her pray and only that. She missed the mouse even though she made the break through. She didn't get frustrated quite yet though, she knew it would take time before she could catch a lot of pray for her clan mates.

"Don't get frustrated, Swiftpaw. In leaf-bare, prey is hard to catch and find. Grab your prey, and let's head over to another area and see if you can catch something." Embershade meowed, picking up her two pieces of prey. "Follow me." She muffled through the mouthful of fur, and she padded away.

Swiftpaw followed her mentor deeper into the trees. it was tranquil out here in the forest. so calm it seemed as if nothing ever went wrong out here but yet if Swiftpaw looked close signs existed everywhere of battles and other things like a broken tree branch, scratches cut into the bark of the trees.
