Icekit's ceremony

Stormstar leaped onto the Tallrock, his fur neat and clean. His tail flickered as he gazed around the freezing clearing. Leaf-bare was coming, and they needed more apprentices. Sadly, his apprentice wasn't becoming a warrior apprentice...He raised his head sightly, clearing his throat. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather below the Tallrock for a Clan meeting!" He had spoken to his oldest daughter about the path she wanted to take, and only her and him knew what this gathering would be about. Perhapes he should of have told his mate, but he knew that Raccoonheart would of been fine with the path Icekit wanted to follow.

Icekit let out a tiny mew of despair. No cat knew of the tough decision the kit had come across. Everyone was aware of the lack of medicine cats within their Clan, but no one was willing to sacrifice their ways to follow that path.

Until today.

The she-kit had spoken with her father, the leader, about this only once. It started off with her father asking her what she wanted to be. Her first thought was warrior, but something in her mind had changed. It was if StarClan was telling Icekit to do something else. So she spoke the words "Medicine cat". This was a surprise to even herself. She could never imagine herself as the medicine cat. Even now she still couldn't believe it.

The kit shivered with the thought of disappointment. She had told her mother many times she would be deputy just like her.

"What will she say..." Icekit mewed. The lynx-point sighed and quickly exited the nursery, not daring to look back, knowing she would doubt becoming an apprentice. She looked up to the top of the Tallrock to see her father standing proud and tall.

I hope this was the right choice...

Falconfang moved towards the Tallrock which I've definitely called the Highrock before and sat down by himself. He didn't know what was going on, but seeing Icekit there, he just assumed she was becoming an apprentice. The clan was growing... slowly, but it was growing.

Raccoonheart came out of the nursery sitting at the entrance, to keep an eye on Patchkit. She purred happily the her daughter was becoming an apprentice. She was proud of her daughter no matter what.

Stormstar gazed around the gathering cats, his gaze flicking at his oldest daughter. "Cats of WindClan," he yowled, his voice echoing though the hallowed clearing. "As you know, we are without a Medicine cat. So it's time we gain an medicine cat apprentice. I have chosen a cat who has shown great wisdom and interest." He paused for a moment, his eyes growing sad for a quick second before becoming bright again. "Your next medicine cat will be Icekit. Icekit, do you accept the post of a medicine cat apprentice?"

A second of hesitation caught Icekit's throat. She glanced around at the gathered Clan, pausing only to see her mother's expression. She recognized the feeling Raccoonheart showed as pride. A smile grew on the soon-to-be-apprentice's face. The she-kit looked back up at Stormstar and nodded.

"I do." she mewed happily.

Icek-paw nodded to her leader. A surge of responsibility washed over the new apprentice as she realized that the health of the Clan rested in her paws. This not only scared her, but exhilarated her.

"Thank you..." she whispered to no one in particular. She would make her Clan proud.
