Snowpaw and Rustpaw's Border Patrol

Sagestar waited outside the camp, having told the two lagging apprentices the day before that he'd give them the grand tour of the territory. It was, of course, the middle of the night, a few days after the gathering. The moon was still nearly full and shining brightly.

Snowpaw got up, stretching in her nest. She padded outside, and sat by Sagestar, as calm as a leaf.

Rustpaw eagerly bounced out of camp, rusty pelt gleaming in the moon light, obviously recently groomed. He sat on the other side of Sagestar, eager to begin training.

"Glad to see you two arrived on time." Sagestar purred and wrapped his tail around his paws, "How much do you two know about our territory already?"

Rustpaw though. "Uh..I know that it's very dark and marshy; and there are mostly pine trees." Rustpaw chided hopefully.

Snowpaw flashed Rustpaw an angry glance. "Well, I know we share borders with Thunderclan, Skyclan, and a little bit of Windclan." she said. Closing her eyes and looking up at the moon

Rustpaw flashed a glare at Snowpaw. "I knew that too; I just mentioned basics about our territory, not borders." Rustpaw said, flashing Snowpaw an angry glare.

Snowpaw's pelt bristled with anger. "Our borders are part of our territory." she spat,

"Stop it you too." Sagestar hissed under his breath. "Both of your answers were acceptable." The leader flicked the two apart with the tip of his tail and motioned for them to follow, heading for the SkyClan border. "You've already seen Fourtrees and the other clans at the gathering. How closely did you pay attention to them?"

Snowpaw looked at Sagestar. "I paid close attention." she boasted. She padded beside Sagestar's shoulder. "I noticed Windclan looked like they were fast and strong, and they smelled of Rabbits." she said, "Skyclan looked like they had powerful shoulders to climb some trees, and they smelled of birds and trees, same with Thunderclan, but Thunderclan smelled of Squirrels and Mice." she said, leaving Riverclan for Rustpaw.

"And RiverClan had glossy pelts and smelt like fish and water. I also noticed how they're lanky, but not as much so as WindClan." he added, sounding like a smart-a$$ to impress his leader.

Snowpaw looked at Rustpaw. He did know alot about Riverclan, for an apprentice that hasn't been at a gathering. She still was a little angry at him for taking the first shot.

Rustpaw felt eyes looking at him and he looked up. It was just Snowpaw. He returned the look athen looked ahead, where the trees started reaching taller, and began thinning until they grew to be oaks and maples, not shadowy pines Rustpaw was accustomed too. He shifted uncomfortably, looking at the wide trunks of a dead maple.

Snowpaw kept looking at Rustpaw, she paused and just, looked at him. She noticed the other types of trees, glad to be in the moonlight.

"Very good, you two." Sagestar meowed, "And that's a nice observation, Rustpaw. It shows a little weakness. RiverClan cats are not always too thin. The river is constantly filled with fresh fish year-round, which they use as their main source of prey, so even during leaf-bare the clan is well fed. If they're thin, there must be something wrong with their food supply." He didn't seemed to worried about it. RiverClan weren't their allies, but he admittedly did have a someone soft spot for the neutral clan. He was some-what friends with their leader, anyways.
"We're close to SkyClan territory now. They have no undergrowth on the forest floor to hide in, like ThunderClan, so they are constantly up in the trees, like you said, Snowpaw."
