Falconkit's ceremony

Stormstar sat on the Tallrock, his long tail wrapped around his white paws. His eyes were fixed on the cloud-less light blue sky. Stormstar wondered if the sky ever ended, but he pushed the though away as he got to his paws. It was time to make another kit an apprentice, which caused the leader to purr. WindClan was slowly growing. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey, gathering under the Tallrock for a Clan meeting!"

Falconkit slowly padded from the nursery, his eyes training on the leader. He tipped his head slightly to the side, wondering what was happening now.

Mintpaw walked out from apprentice den. She sat, the young she-cat knew what was going to happen.

Stormstar gazed at the cats in the clearing. This was his second time doing an apprentice ceremony, but he still felt at edge during it. "I have called you all here today to witness a kit becoming an apprentice. Falconkit, will you please step forward."

Falconkit stared up in surprise at the leader. I'm going to be an apprentice? Not wanting to look like a scared little mouse in front of the whole clan, he pushed his head up and confidently strode to the base of the Tallrock. On the outside, he looked very sure, but inside his emotions were like a turbulent wave threatening to crash down upon him. He only hoped that the clan couldn't see that.

Stormstar gazed around the clearing once before turning his warm gaze to Falconkit. "Falconkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Falconpaw. Your mentor will be Duststorm. I hope Duststorm will pass down all he knows on to you." His eyes turned to Duststorm, who was totally in the cats gathered below " Duststorm, you are ready to take on an apprentice. You had received excellent training from (former mentor), and you have shown yourself to be brave and strong. You will be the mentor of Falconpaw, and I expect you to pass on all you know to Falconpaw."

Having been there the whole time Duststorm approached the Tall Rock, giving barely a hint of a smile to Falconpaw. He reached to touch noses, as was customary.

Mintpaw was happy that Falconpaw could now train with her, maybe they would be training buddies.

The newly-christened Falconpaw touched noses with his new mentor, looking up calmly with his deep blue eyes. Inside, his emotions were in a new, heightened state of turmoil, fearing that he might mess up or fail his mentor, but on the outside he kept an air of calmness.
