This counts as 1 of 2 topics needed for Shadow Step after the move has been used!
"Today's lesson is on Shadow Step; sometimes you'll need the help of the shadows to avoid a predator. I want each of you to try sneaking up on me from the shadows cast around camp to steal the purple flowers tied to my tail." Virtue's silver tail swished gently, showing off the lavender Heatherberry had braided into his fur just for this very lesson. "Are you ready? Disappear!"
She remained in his memory simply as the most plaintive and poignant of a line of ghosts
Juniperkit was grouped with two other kits, Cardinalkit and Briarkit, for this lesson. The two kits were littermates, and a bit older than she was. It made her fidget; would they leave her out, since they were closer? No, how silly of a thought. There was only three of them, and it's not like they would be doing anything in pairs. The older tom, Virtue, began speaking. Curious green eyes turned to him, head tipped in question as she listened. Shadows... get the lavender... she was the first to step forward. Once she realised that, panic fluttered in her chest. Was she really doing this? Her paws seemed to move so slowly as she backed away into the shadows. What should have been easy for her due to her dark pelt turned out to be incredibly difficult. The feeling of eyes watching her, crawling under her pelt and burning into her skin, made her more squirmish than usual, and in no way did the kit even seem to blend into the shadows. On the contrary, she seemed almost to tremble as she wilted in her spot. How pathetic...
Briarkit stood at rapt attention once more as the strangely-named tom spoke. Not dissimilar to the 'game' she had played with one of his companions in the leader den previously, but this time the objective seemed like an impossible task. How could any of them possibly steal something that was attached to Virtue's tail? Nevertheless, Briarkit was up for the challenge, however difficult it seemed. Eyeing the flowers, the gingerly stepped forward, wishing that her brightly-patterned pelt was a little less brightly patterned. Anxiety made her heart pound as she moved, and she was almost tempted to just sit back and watch... That way she wouldn't have to embarrass herself if she failed. But to do that seemed almost more of an embarrassment, when cats younger than her had tried. So Briarkit moved, small body pressed low to the ground. She reached out with a paw, only to stumble, and ducked her head in embarrassment. That hadn't gone well... But at least she wasn't the only one. That task really was impossible!

cardinalkit
"a castle with thorns so that they can never come near."
kit | shadowclan | she/her
Cardinalkit couldn't help but stare at Juniperkit as soon as she noticed just how timid her younger denmate was. It took everything in her to hold back an eye roll. She and her littermates were still sharing a den with kits that acted like scaredy-mice, and there was nothing she could do about it. She then focused her attention on the flowers that had been delicately braided into Virtue's tail. It looked a little odd to her, but it wouldn't matter soon enough. Even though the she-kit creeped forward as silently as she could, it wasn't quite good enough. Cardinalkit huffed as she stopped short.
cardinalkit used "shadow step", costing 10 sp.
