Sagefeather was particularly good at feeling out emotions, including ones that others tried to hide. Silverhawk was upset. Nettlepaw was upset too, but at least the apprentice wasn't trying to hide it. Nettlepaw mentioned the rabbit being worn out, and it didn't bother Sagefeather a bit to nod in agreement. "Oh, probably. I would be if I had to run away from two cats." Sagefeather didn't have an ego, not really. He thought the idea of it was silly. Everyone got lucky sometimes and everyone had bad luck sometimes too. Why in the world would anyone pretend that this wasn't true and set themselves up to look like fools?
At Nettlepaw's questioning, Sagefeather shrugged. That was something he needed to talk to Leopardstar about, because Sagefeather had no clue. Despite all of the resentment toward him, the red tom wasn't about to bad mouth anyone. They had their pride hurt, and such wounds were internal.... and more importantly they were self-inflicted. The lashing out both subtle and not, had nothing to do with Sagefeather himself, so he wasn't going to take offense.
A porcupine appeared and Sagefeather's fur bristled as Nettlepaw charged it. He tensed, hoping to Starclan he'd make a good move. Luckily he did. "Nice Nettlepaw! I'll put in a good word to Leopardstar for sure!" He was eager to compliment the apprentice, eager to make the tom feel better. Larkshine attacked next and Sagefeather moved in, nervous, but willing to assist in whatever way that he could.
The porcupine's quills drew blood on the new warrior, but Sagefeather was determined to keep his clanmates as safe as he could.
Sagefeather used Front Paw Strike and Desperate Blows, dealing 11 damage and - 14SP
Porcupine's Quill Armor does 6 damage (3 + 3 per attack)
Sagefeather 24HP / 66SP (-14SP) (-6HP)
Porcupine 23HP / 165SP (-11HP) (I included the damage from Larkshine's successful belly rake)

"The weak never have their wings unfurl."
Silverhawk T3 Warrior | ShadowClan | he/him
No sooner than Silverhawk come back with his lizard did Nettlepaw start crying out about something. He squinted and looked towards the odd, half-triumph half-startle call. The sight waiting for him made Silverhawk's eyes roll in frustration. He knew a peaceful, uninterrupted hunt was too much to ask for, but a porcupine of all things? He couldn't even celebrate the chance to flex his claws! Not while caring about the quills that bristled out of the huffing creature. After a bitter sigh he began the hurried lope over to the rest of the patrol as they descended on the porcupine.
He caught the tail end of Sagefeather's encouragement toward Nettlepaw, and while he missed whatever the white tom did that was so stunning, Silverhawk resented him for it. He used the swelling frustration to drive him forward, shoving past the others to approach the porcupine's head. It reared up just as he approached, and with its belly exposed, he struck out, hoping to dig deep into the meat of its stomach, but it didn't remain up for long-- just long enough to shake out its quills, sending several sticking into his nose and causing Silverhawk to reel backwards with a loud hiss.
Silverhawk attempted Belly Rake... attempt failed. Dealt 8 (5+3 from Quill Armor) damage to self and cost 25 SP.

Nettlepaw grimaced as Sagefeather and Silverhawk both ended up with quills between their paw pads. He did not one to have to pull any quills out of his fur. No way. "You need to..." he panted "Get underneath... Like this!" As the porcupine took another lumbering step towards his patrol mates, turning away from the apprentice, he saw his chance and took it. Like before he took a running start and then fell onto his back, letting his speed carry him clear of the beast and its armour. White paws became stained with blood and mud, but Nettlepaw once again made it look easy. Until he felt himself sway slightly, he stumbled but found his footing. The porcupine let out a bellow of rage, ready to take him out, but as it spun to face him, its eyes landed on the warriors that surrounded it. It could either enjoy tearing the flea of a cat apart or live... It preferred the second option. With a grumble the badly beaten porcupine shuffled into the undergrowth.
Despite his condition, Nettlepaw was very pleased with himself. "Yeah! Don't mess with the belly rake master porcu-butt!" he chirped, poking his tongue out. He stifled a yawn, overcome with tiredness from the adrenaline that had kept him going. "Thanks for helping! But I'm going to sit out of the rest of the hunt... " he swayed again "Should have used my energy better..." he giggled, blinking slowly. He needed to sit down for a bit. "I'll guard whatever prey you catch..."

Larkshine Tier 2 Warrior | Shadowclan | She/Her
“Awesome Job Nettlepaw! You scared that porcupine away, mostly by yourself!” Larkshine chirped to the young tom as the porcupine darted away. She was sure he would make a great warrior one day with the bravery he showed against the spikey beast. She purred and turned away to continue hunting.

Larkshine saw a bushy tail near a tree and lunged towards it, but it darted up a tree before she could grab it.
