“I would like to spar.” meowed Silverdusk as the tall warrior approached the even larger tom “And to talk as well.” Her accent was as broken as ever, but they made an effort to speak in his native tongue, it was what Vinecrawler preferred after all and she needed the practice. After visiting his brother, Wiggleworm, they had made a point to seek him out, to discuss their moonstone journey, or more so the lack of events that had unfolded at the fated rock. What had happened - the dream - matched all too well with what the sandy tom before them had described back on the mountains, long before Silverdusk’s training had been stalled by the illness. An illness that had fueled their anger and resentment towards StarClan and kindled more than just a passing curiosity in the feral religion of Gekala. The moonstone had made it very clear where they sat, and what to follow, Silverdusk was sure Vinecrawler would want to know that his teachings had been passed on.

In the clearing that the young warrior had found for their spar, she fixed him with a level glare. There was a moment where they debated letting him make the first move, but that would only give her a disadvantage. They were not as strong nor as experienced as Vinecrawler, letting him start the battle would only ensure their defeat, and make what should be an interesting fight short and boring. More than likely though, her swift defeat at the paws of the large tom would be all too embarrassing for Quailprowler. Silverdusk knew the pride her mentor had for them, they would not embarrass her. With a running start, the silver molly leapt at Vinecrawler head butting the tom square in the chest. He stumbled briefly off balance and deftly she used that opening to launch themself, using their weight and power to knock the large and powerful tom off balance. Once on the floor, they surged forward, placing paws on his limbs to keep him held down. It probably would not last long, but for the time being VineCrawler would have to work dislodge Silverdusk’s hold. With him beneath her it was as good a time as any to start a conversation”I dreamt of Gekala at my moonstone.”

"You speak the feral tongue well! Though your pronounciation could use some work, bu that comes with time." He mused back, looking down on the younger warrior with a smile. "I accept your challenge. Lead the way, friend." His tail flicked behind him as he smiled, content that Silverdusk was still speaking the feral tongue even as a warrior. It seemed the curiosity wasn't just that after all.

Their walk was swift and with purpose, as though something weighed heavily on Silverdusk's mind. He allowed for silence to fill the air, hoping it would her to break it first. While he was not the cat to come to for advice, he desperatly didn't want it to seem like he couldn't ever be trusted with thoughts or worries because he spoke up too soon and said the wrong thing - though his mouth did open a few times only to swiftly close as he reminded himself of that. Besides, they were beginning to slow down. Surely they would speak up?

Instead, Vinecrawler was met with a glar as the two stood across from each other. Did he... Do something? Not do something? Perhaps she had grown to hate him? Normally he wouldn't care, but he had grown quite fond of the young molly. It would be rather disappointing for the bond he felt they shared to have crumbled away because of something he had done-- Oof!" He stumbled backwards, taken by surprise after being lost in his thoughts as the young silver warrior suddenly bolted forward and met his chest with the top of her head before toppling him over. ”I dreamt of Gekala at my moonstone.” Stunned silence overcame him before he realized he should be moving.

However, his excitment was too much to make any movement worth while, failing to be released from the pin entirely. "What did you see?" He hoped - no pleaded - that the Gekala Silverdusk spoke of was the very same he had also dream of. His eyes sparkled as he waited for her to answer.

As predicted, despite minimal effort on the tom's behalf, Silverdusk had to release him from her pin. "Eventfully uneventful." they replied with the same words she had used when telling Wiggleworm of their moonstone. "Definitely not StarClan. It was weird, It felt very real, but I could not move. I could hear and see birds that were so bright and loud, so different from here. It was damp like it should be cold, but I felt like I was sweating. And the trees the brightest green I have ever seen and they stretched up into the sky, like they wanted to touch Silverpelt." Their eyes shifted watching Vinecrawler. She made to rush him again but "tripped", when the large tom came to inspect them, she lashed out wildly, catching him by surprise. Wanting to avoid his giant paws, Silverdusk retreated back to momentary safety. "I saw what you said was called "the ocean"... So blue and so big. It made the lake we once called home look tiny."

An overwhelming feeling of what could only be described as glee over came the tom. That was Gekala! To think he was not the only one to dream of the trees that stretched endlessly into the sky, the humid air, the birds that carried rainbow feathers and twittered unlike any bird he had ever seen before... Yes. Silverdusk had seen it. "By the Gods, Gekala came to you! You are in their sights, dear friend!" Silverdusk suddenly dropped like a rock, fooling Vinecrawler into getting close to make sure they were okay. The cheeky warrior had set that move up, swinging out at him. He was impressed by this move, thought the conversation continue too quickly for him to mention it.

"A place of endless summer, plentiful prey and waters so clear and blue you can see the fish within them without ever squinting... That is a sign. You have been welcomed to walk the path of Gekala! Tell me, do you sense the God of Now here within the forest? All around you it is watching. How does it feel?" He didn't even feel this close to his own flesh and blood, their paths obviously aligned with StarClan. Forgetting he was the more experienced of the two, Vinecrawler reeled up to slam paws down on Silverdusk's shoulders as he sprang forward, nipping her on the ear before springing backwards.  

Vinecrawler used Thunderous Stop (3) paired with Snap (10), dealing a total of 13 damage and costing 17 SP.

The large tom's paws came down hard on Silverdusk's head. There was a momentary ringing, and they felt disorientated, but she was better than this. With a shake of her head, the tall warrior cleared the dizziness that plagued them. Enjoying the spar, even if the winner was more than likely predetermined, they matched Vinecrawler's move, teeth nipping the tom's round ears. They smiled at his words, pausing to take it in. As the wind rustled the trees, Silverdusk closed her eyes brows furrowed, trying to sense that feeling. She didn't know what they were searching for. What the feeling the sandy tom spoke of was. "I do not know, Vinecrawler. What does it feel like? they asked, cocking their head. Was the God of the Now with her, aiding them to an unlikely victory? They hoped so.

Vinecrawler noted how quick the young warrior was to shake off his attacks, further proving to him that Gekala was the true path for this individual. He paused just long enought to allow Silverdusk the chance to take in the sounds and feelings around them. To feel what he felt whenever he walked the forest or lay within camp. "everything. The rustling of the trees, and crunch of the snow. The fluttering of wings and the song of the birds they belong to... The wind in your fur. The Now is always with you, Silverdusk. They guide you and allow you the freedom to carve your own path in life. Your decisions are your own. Your fate is yours. The Now will not hold your paw, but it will let you know you haven't been forgotten or abandoned. No warrior of Gekala is held above another. All receive equality in the eternal hunting grounds when Death comes stalking."

He allowed only a moment longer for Silverdusk to truly felt what he meant before attacking again. The older warrior felt... Giddy. He had held no hope that another would walk the same path as him, but he held high hopes for Silverdusk.

Silverdusk graciously accepted the pause in their fight Vinecrawler gifted them. The respite gave time for them to reflect on his words, and to regather their strength. She panted, tail twitching, letting his words sink in. The warrior inhaled deeply, slowing her breathing, allowing a calmness to wash over them. There had been signs of the Now, plenty too they realised, all which she had overlooked. While Silverdusk tread a path similar to Vinecrawler's there was still much to learn, much to understand. "I have felt the Now." they mewed "When I was sick, and after the wolves. When Wiggleworm got better, and the strangers turned up in our home. I did not recognise it then, but the feeling of a hand on your shoulder, that is the Now. When it is calm and happy, like now, I feel it too. It is kind of like a promise that only you understand. Yes?" The molly cocked their head waiting for the older warrior's answer but his response was to headbutt them. It seemed their brief pause was over.

Silverdusk took several steps back, faltering slightly. Vinecrawler had caught them unawares, well, she would have to do the same. Her paws gritted gainst the soft soil, legs tensing before she was springing forwards, and feinting towards Vinecrawler's blind spot, kicking the sandy cat's soft underbelly. A wicked grin spread across her maw, pleased at having pulled the dangerous move off. It was the exact move Quailprowler had taught them to take out larger opponents like Vinecrawler.

"A promise is exactly what Now provides." A promise for a better tomorrow and - should Death come - an afterlife in Gekala that rivals the life of any living cat. "You walk the same path as me now, Silverdusk. So long as you continue down it, you will be welcomed in the forest of Gekala when your time comes. The weight is not as heavy as StarClan, hm? A path that is your own to shape into whatever you wish." In his excitement over this revelation, Vinecrawler failed to parry Silverdusk's attack, tripping over himself and exposing a weak spot. In retaliation, he kicked his large paws at her own exposed soft spot, failing to hit anything and instead smacking a paw on a felled tree.

It didn't bother him that he may lose this spar since he had gained a fellow friend in the following of Gekala. "You are kin to me now. Our bond has been solidified this day." He twisted his body to get back to his paws, fur deshelved and stuck with snow and dirt. Yet a grin - though ugly as his smile was - was plastered on his maw as he dipped his head in roconistion.

Silverdusk stepped around VineCrawler's almost sloppy moves. "Much better!" they purred in agreement. Having control, agency, it was more than StarClan would ever give either of them. She had always been destined to walk this path, and hearing it solidified only made the tall molly happier. That smile only grew wider, splitting the otherwise stoic warrior's face from ear to ear. To think if he had not asked them to sit with him all those moons ago as the sky poured down upon the clans. Without even knowing about it The Now had told her to accept his offer, and they had. Vinecrawler smiled at her, a strange smile, but they were weird too. "It is how it should be." Silverdusk nicked at the sandy warrior's ear, then swatted him between the ears, whiskers twitching. Their chest heaved, but not so much as her new found kin's did. "Would you say I won this one?" they mewed, amusement profound in her tone. Who would have guessed that she may have actually pulled this one off.

Vinecrawler - for the very first time in his life - let out a bellowing laugh straight from the belly. He had very much lost this spar, and he was glad he had. This was all proof that Silverdusk had been born for the path that led to Gekala. For a brief moment, a soft breeze ruffled the fur of both warriors as it passed by them, reminding them that The Now was rejoicing in their fateful encounter. "It was my honor to fight you, just as it was my honor to lose to you. If this were not for play, I would have died smiling." Yes. If it weren't a playful spar, this would have been Vinecrawler's last breath. And he would have rejoiced in it compeltely. A loss did not mean he would not be honored in Gekala upon death; it meant he had done his best and faced the consiquences of a true battle.

A drop of war crimson slid down his forehead and off his nose, only realizing now that his ear had been torn slightly in their scuffle. He shook his head, flinging little droplets into the snow which caused its warm to melt little holes within the miserable white earth. "The first to have left a permanent mark against me... I will wear this battle scar with pride, knowing the memory it brings when looked upon. It is how it should be." His last words mimicked theirs, his gaze turning to the sky above them that had begun to grow scarlet as the sun sank below the tree line. "Shall we return to camp? Or would you like to speak some more? "
