Daisypaw's Medicine Cat Ceremony

Although it held its own unique beauties, the life of a Clan cat held indescribable trials and hardships. Yet the forest carried on. Life continued to move because all ranks alike made a verbal promise to defend their Clan until their dying breath. Mothers pushed on to provide for their kits. Apprentices continued to fight to make their mentors proud, and certainly mentors did the same so that their apprentices would have someone to look up to. Despite their numerous differences, perserverance was a trait that all Clan cats shared.

Daystar was no stranger to suffering. Her time in the land of the living had included war and a hostile take over by the Asylum, but she had no intention of comparing her life to anyone else’s. She was proud of WindClan. She admired the strength that they had displayed for moons on end. She knew what Daisyfang needed to hear at a time like this, it was honestly what anyone else would need. All of the Clans had abandoned their homes in hopes of having a better life elsewhere until the forest repaired itself, and many cats were falling victim to an illness that Daystar had never witnessed before. She could only imagine how difficult that must be on the medicine cats, let alone one that didn’t have a traditional mentor.

When the leader appeared before the medicine cat, there was a gentle smile on her maw, a silent sign that everything was going to be alright. An emotion glittered in her eyes, pride for a cat that she had never personally met until today. Still, Daisyfang was a fellow WindClanner all the same. The Clan of the wind was connected through the moor and the stars, and she considered every generation to be her Clanmates all the same.
“Greetings, Daisyfang.” She purred, her voice warm and inviting.
“What a beautiful name. The gentleness of a flower combined with the strength of a sharp fang… certainly you’re a force to be reckoned with. WindClan is lucky to have you as their medicine cat.”

Daystar sat down and motioned for Daisyfang to do the same before wrapping her fluffy tail around her paws.
“My name is Daystar. I was a WindClan leader far before your time. I’ve been watching you for a while now.”
She hesitated, “That… actually sounds a bit menacing. Sorry. What I mean is, I’ve been very impressed with your progress thus far. I know it must’ve been a lot of work, being thrown straight into the fray of this mysterious illness and having to work alone most of the time to figure things out, but you’ve done a wonderful job up to this point. Would you agree with me? It’s alright to take pride in your accomplishments.”

Daystar's gaze was soft and her voice was sympathetic as she spoke.
"It's always important to honor and remember those of the past, and I don't blame you for that one bit. Don't let it weigh you down too much, though. Clan life is continuously moving and ever changing, and those that are placed at the head of each Clan are tasked with moving and changing along with the times. Without a good leadership team to guide them, a Clan will stay still. You mustn't stay still, Daisyfang." She believed that her advice was good enough. In fact, it was just what Daystar wanted to hear when it was her time to become a deputy and then a leader directly afterward. It was hard, but she believed in the medicine cat standing before her.

"They're both living out their days here in peace, if that brings you any solace. Life in StarClan isn't perfect, but it is the final resting place, after all, so they're receiving the rest that they deserve. Let them be your motivation... continue to work hard in their name."
She couldn't hold back the sigh that was threatening to escape her maw, "I hope my words are of use to you. Being in a high position can be scary, believe me, but a proper support system can work wonders. I'm excited to see how you'll help WindClan grow."
