Never Ending[C]

After much debatting, Palekit had returned to the Twolegplace. He didn't know the way back to Windclan territory, so it only made sense to try and track his route from the Twolegplace back to the moor. Palekit had regained his strength from the good hunting the abandoned Twoleg den had provided, and he could feel himself already stronger than when he first entered the Twolegplace. Surely, once he was back home, he would be made an apprentice. He had fought off weasels single-pawed!

The cool breeze of the forests began to fade away as he travelled further into the Twolegplace, replaced by the familiar foul scent of crow-food and dust. Palekit hopped over a fallen rock-tree, or whatever it was. His paws sank into the disgusting mush coming out of the thing, but he ignored it. A movement had caught his eye. A quick sniff confirmed that it was indeed what he thought it was: a mouse.

Palekit lowered himself to the ground as silently as he could, then dropped onto all fours. The mouse was fat, almost as fat as a rat. No doubt it was enjoying the spoils of the Twoleg trash all around. The ginger tabby's eyes narrowed, and his muscles tensed. He flattened his back, until his belly was brushing the ground and his body was spread out like a snake. He coiled inward, then lashed out. His claws fell short of the mouse by a whisker-length, and instantly the mouse darted away. Palekit sprung to his paws, his tail lashing furiously. Mouse-dung!

Huffing, Palekit turned away from the direction the mosue had ran off to, and continued on his way deeper into the Twolegplace. He trotted down the paths, the rough paths that had once left his pads sore and bruised now nothing more than a little itch. Going around this place so much must have had its benefit. The tabby stopped when he heard the rustling of wings. He looked up, expecting to see a pigeon or sparrow, but instead met the fierce glare of an eagle. Palekit jumped out of the way just in time to avoid the sharp talons.

He quickly recovered his footing, and his blue eyes narrowed on the bird with a vengeful glare. Those birds were the reason he was here in the first place! He remembered how painful the eagle's talons had been when they were all that prevented him from plummeting to his death. This might not be the same eagle that had carried him here, but it was still an eagle.

With a snarl, Palekit flung himself at the bird. He knocked it out of the sky, claws digging into its wings and tearing out as many feathers as he could. He might not have gotten that mouse, but he wouldn't go hungry with this huge bird to feed him. The bird flapped under him, and its talons lashed out to graze his cheek. Palekit instantly let go of the eagle, jumping back at the stinging pain in his cheek.

Palekit hissed with pain, but with the pain came a rush of energy. The same thrill that he had felt when he play-fought with Marigoldkit. His claws lashed out at the bird, one followed by another, aiming straight for where he knew would hurt the most. The eagle cried out as the tabby's claws sank into its wings. With a furious screech, it swooped down at the tabby, talons out to slash his face.

Palekit screamed as talons dug into his face, ripping a huge scar across his face. Blood dribbled down his face, staining his fur a dark red. Was it the blood that got into his eyes that made the world wash red, or was it the rage in his heart. Palekit's paw lashed out once again, but this time it was aimed for a much more fatal spot. His claws dug deep into the bird's throat, drowing out it's furious screeches with the sound of bubbling blood. At last, the bird fell limp in his grip.

A huge smile shone on Palekit's face. He killed it. He wasn't some weak kit anymore, he was a warrior! Palekit had never felt stronger... but if he returned to Windclan, he wouldn't be a warrior. He'd be a kit, then an apprentice, and it'd be ages before he was made a warrior. He'd even have to clean out the elder's bedding and pick their ticks for them for moons. Suddenly, the thought of returning home didn't seem as... alluring. He would just be ignored by everyone again. Did they even miss him? Why had nobody come searching for him? It's been so long, surely they would have found him by now? A sick feeling settled in his stomach. Surely, they hadn't forgotten him?

Palekit starred down at his paws. They were stained with blood. Why should he return to Windclan? He could live as a rouge... Grub could. Suddenly, his name didn't sound very nice. He had killed an eagle, yet he still carried the name of a kit. No, he wasn't Palekit of Windclan, not anymore. The tom looked up at the setting sun over the Twolegplace, a sudden confidence in him. No, he was Ajex, warrior of no Clan!
