Finally, one of the longer-reigning apprentices would be earning their name. She had trained for quite a long time, and hard. Gleefully, the leader hopped atop the high rock, calling out. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the Highrock for a clan meeting!" Mottlestar knew as well as any cat that some simply took their time, and she was more than accepting. Her own son, while his sister had earned her name long ago, was still training, learning all he could. He'd find his time eventually. But Redpaw wasn't the topic of this particular ceremony, and so the molly kept her gaze towards the crowd for the particular apprentice in question.
Echopaw heard the call of his leader and rose from his comfortable resting position. He had brought quite a few of their apprentices to the Moonstone it was only a matter of when they would be called up to be given their warrior name. The medicine cat apprentice watched as a beautiful blue butterfly flew above them circling around the apprentices and landing on a branch above Highrock. It signified that Greenleaf was underway and Echopaw interpreted it as a clear omen for good things to come. Smiling, he turned his head to Mottlestar as she began the ceremony.

As Mottlestar called another ceremony, a flicker of hope lit Sagepaw’s eyes once again. Every time, she hoped this was her turn, and she was always left disappointed. Still, the fawn apprentice met Mottlestar’s gaze, trying not to look as desperate as she felt.
It was a bit odd, having Mottlestar start a ceremony only for her to take over it but it was how it was decided to do these warrior ceremonies - to give Acornstem time to focus on remembering all of the words she would need to say as...Well, this was far more special than an apprentice ceremony. What few words she normally would have to utter for those seemed to pale in comparison to what was needed - mostly when it came to a ceremony as long awaited and deserved at this one!
She watched as the Clan gathered before she saw her signal to join Mottlestar upon the rock, dipping her head to the leader as she stepped forward and cleared her throat. "Apologies for this change - but all of your assumptions of when Mottlestar calls a meeting like this is correct. Today, we are not here to witness an apprentice ceremony like which tends to fall under my preview but a warrior ceremony, one that is well overdue! Sagepaw, please step forward," she meowed with a dip of her head to the she-cat.
She knew much of what Sagepaw was feeling - her own training had fallen behind, leaving her as an apprentice even as cats a few moons younger than her gain their names. It was hard, wondering when your training would finally reach a point that you would be seen worthy enough for your full name. "Sagepaw, your apprenticeship has been one of struggle - being forced to find a new mentor after the retirement of Dayquill. But despite these setbacks, you have continued to hone your skills and today, finally, it has come to fruition - but as always, an oath must be taken. Sagepaw, do you promise to protect, defend, and serve your Clan according to the warrior code, even at the cost of your life?"
OOC: Due to Kitty being on a trip, I have been asked to take over ceremonies!
The she-cat’s hopes fell as Acornstem ascended the Highrock. So much for this being her turn. Maybe Goldenfern’s kits would be warriors before her at this rate. Suddenly, Acornstem was saying her name! Sagepaw’s head jerked up. She took a moment to process everything that was said before solemnly saying, “I do.” Two words. That was it. Two words and her life had finally begun.
"Then let it be known that from this day forth, that you shall no longer be Sagepaw," she meowed, raising her head with a smile and a purr. "Your apprenticeship was not easy - multiple setbacks delayed your training and yet you preserved with patience and resilience like no other. For this, I welcome you by your new name. ThunderClan, please welcome your newest warrior, Sageroot!" It had been a name long discussed with Mottlestar once it was realized the apprentice's training was finally complete.
Roots was what defined many things - it locked plants into the ground, allowed them to flourish and many could recover from hardships as long as the root survived. She had known Mottlestar had a fondness for plant related warrior names - Acornstem's own name was a clear sign of that and she could think of nothing better name for an apprentice who stubbornly refused to wilt - instead she had planted her paws and took everything on. With that, she jumped from the rock to touch her nose to Sageroot's with a purr. "Congrats, Sageroot. I know your pain - my own apprenticeship was set back but I also know the relief that comes with this moment. Enjoy the rest of your day and celebrate - you've earned this."
Maplekit stumbled out of the nursery, excitement bubbling at hearing the sound of cats gathering outside. The thick bundle of reddish-brown fur fixed her eyes on the cats standing on Highrock.
Now that she was older, the kit understood that a ceremony was about to proceed. What kind of ceremony would it be? Who was it for? Acornstem had joined Mottlestar atop the rock and asked a familiar cat a question. Sagepaw! She was finally becoming a warrior!
"Sageroot, you did it! You're a big warrior now!" she laughed, hurtling towards her friend. "All your hard work paid off, Sageroot!" Maplekit beamed at the new warrior, happy for the molly.
Sageroot was finally here. She’d taken the long way up, but finally she stood at the peak and knew. This was all worth it. “Sageroot,” she whispered, testing out her new name and finding it rolled off the tongue well. Acornstem and Mottlestar had done well. Roots planted in the ground, Sageroot would finally grow tall. She nodded in response to Acornstem’s empathetic words.
A flick of motion caught Sageroot’s eye. “Maplekit!” she called. The kit had been right about being patient, but Sageroot was still glad she didn’t have to wait too long. The fawn tabby gave the kit’s head a lick, stumbling back for a moment as the little body bumped her own. “Thanks,” she mewed.

Yet again, her deputy flourished. Even as they had ceremonial words to repeat time and time again, what truly made it special was the personal touch they got to put on each and every warrior ceremony. Acornstem had done so with ease, grace, and kindness. That very friendship and kinship that she showed to everyone that had made the leader partial to choosing her as her deputy.
Beaming yet again, she lept down to join the crowd of cheering cats. "Sageroot! Sageroot!" Mottlestar knew the apprentice had more than earned their name, even as time had seemed to make that day crawl closer rather than run. Seeing her clan grow did her heart good.
