| Amberkit's verbal assault of the Squirrelclanners felt so passionate. If Cedarpaw wasn't beside her, Shrewpaw would have joined Amberkit in using foul language to describe the fictitious clan. Still, the she-cat found herself giggling as the kit ran excitedly back into the nursery. With only a couple moments between just the two of them, Shrewpaw leaned closer to Cedarpaw and whispered something that she just couldn't hold in anymore. "Cedarpaw, this kit is sooo foxing cute!" Er, should she be embarrassed by that? She hadn't joined in Amberkit's cursing for fear of seeming too crass to Cedarpaw, but here she was using an even worse curse.
There was no time to think too long about it as their tiny leader emerged from the den with his haul. "Scare 'em? We'll teach 'em never to come around our territory again!" Shrewpaw stared at Cedarpaw as she started to approach her designated moss balls, trying her best to mimic the tom's crouch. It was harder than it looked, but Shrewpaw was sure her crouch wasn't that much worse. Then again, it didn't really matter now did it? | Seeing that his other two leaders were in position, Amberkit gave them each a nod - his signal to attack. Then, with a cute squeaky growl, the amber tom sprang out of his lousy crouch and landed on the mossball in front of him, tumbling a few tail-lengths as he wrestled the ball. The darned moss ball alternated between Amberkit's teeth, his front paws, and rolling away as it fell from the kit's grasp - at which point he would scramble to his paws and chase after it. There was certainly no stealth nor grace to his sneak attack, and although the Squirrelclanner put up a good fight, in the end he had the mouse-brain pinned down and knocked out. Now that the other leaders were in position, Cedarpaw wriggled his rear, stalking slightly closer. Squirrelclan didn't stand a chance with three strong cats such as themselves to chase them away!
Amberkit's war growl caught Cedarpaw by surprise, who firmly shut his jaw to prevent a traitorous 'awwww' from escaping and making Amberkit feel bad. He watched Amberkit's assault on the nearest mossball. Shrewpaw was right! He was so...uh...so foxing cute! Tail lashing, Cedarpaw launched his attack and closed his paws around the first mossball.
It was more slippery than expecting and the force of his attack sent the mossball flying into the air above him. Cedarpaw reared up and batted the mossball back to the ground and grabbed the moss in his teeth. Aha! Success!
After a moment, he released the ferocious Squirrelclan warrior and turned to face his next target, which had rolled away in all of the chaos. Oh? Running away now?
Sudden silence from Amberkit caught Cedarpaw's attention and he turned to look curiously at the other tom. He had already defeated his first enemy too! The red and white apprentice gestured to his second enemy, which had finally rolled to a stop a few tail lengths away.
It was running, did Amberkit- er Amberstar want him to go after the fleeing Squirrelclanner?

| A few fox-lengths away, Blazefang watched her daughter play with approval. Shrewpaw had friends. That was good, that meant that she’d have backup should there ever come a day she was in a real battle. Of course, Blazefang hoped that day would never come. “Go BirdClan!” she cheered, hoping she hadn’t embarrassed Shrewpaw too much. |
