| RiverClan June 2023 Newsletter Current Happenings Tensions in the forest are rising! After Batsong of WindClan revealed a forbidden romance between Mottlestar and Nightstar, all Clans of the forest are on edge. After Perchstar spoke publicly in ThunderClan’s support at the Gathering, an alliance between the two may be solidified soon. In the meantime, patrols at the WindClan border have been strengthened.
RiverClan’s dearth of warriors and abundance of apprentices continues. Though Perchstar has still ruled that no apprentices may leave camp alone, there are far fewer warriors to keep an eye on them. What shenanigans will they get up to in the meantime?
RiverClan’s Medicine Cat Apprentice applications are open! Please feel free to apply with your own wonderful cats, and/or (when the voting opens) recommend any of our wonderful applicants! How will the instatement of a new medicine cat apprentice change the dynamics of RiverClan?
Topic Spotlight of the Month Every month, we will be spotlighting a topic within the RiverClan territory that we agree is particularly well-written, insightful, or eventful. If you have recommendations for that topic, then you can always feel free to reach out to Ash or Xaandiir during the month at some point! We are open to suggestions, and we love reading topics from you guys.
This month, the topic we are spotlighting is “Contradictions and anomalies” and “light rain”. That's right, we are spotlighting two wonderful topics this month! The first features a discussion between Perchstar and Sprucebark where they discuss the warrior code and what it means when a leader breaks the code. The second features Drizzlekit and Lavenderkit having a nice interaction in the nursery.
The first topic shows two characters that think fairly similarly, but have very different takes on the warior code. The contrast between Perchstar's biased leader-first thinking and Sprucebark's stubborn code-first thinking makes for quite the interesting discussion. There is plenty of dramatic irony regarding Perchstar's own instance of code-breaking and adds a nice tension to the scene that makes it quite entertaining to read.
The second topic is a great display of two users who have returned from their respective hiatuses. Cocoa and isla are both wonderful writers and their skills are fully on display in this topic. Each of their cats handle their disabilities in great strides and seeing the way the pair interact and communicate when one of them is mute makes for a great character analysis for the both of them.
Both topics are a great read and we greatly recommend you give them a look! Thank you to the wonderful users who keep RiverClan active and entertaining.
