Cicadapaw's Warrior Ceremony

"All cats old enough to silently stalk in the shadows, gather in the shadow of Jaggedrock for a clan meeting!"

Leopardsun, as acting leader of ShadowClan, took her place at the base of the Jaggedrock. Standing in its shadow with her Clanmates, daring any one of them to challenge her position. She would not stand above them, and if they asked her reasoning she would give it- but that wasn't nearly as important as the actual reason for calling this meeting: one of ShadowClan's apprentices was due to join the warrior's den. A welcome moment of happiness in the whirlwind of problems and misery that seemed to the follow the marsh-dwellers wherever they went.

Tawnyshadow joined the gathering crowd, surprised to see Leopardsun standing not on the Jaggedrock, but at the base of it. She wasn't given the nine lives as other leaders, since she's only the acting leader, but does her word even hold value? Would Starclan accept a ceremony if not given by a leader? Her pelt prickling, she waited silently for the ceremony to commence.

Cicadapaw excitedly trotted out of the apprentice's den. She had been disappointed before, sure, but she was almost certain that today would be her day to become a warrior. Spotting Mama in the crowd, she trotted over and sat down next to her, ears perked and eyes lit up in excitement, absolutely sure that this had to be her ceremony... If not... then surely it'll come soon, right?

MARSHMALLOW

Marshmallow had been daydreaming a little, staring off into space as the meeting was called. She was only brought back to reality when Cicadapaw's fur brushed against hers as she sat down. Smiling at her excited daughter, she turned her gaze to face the stand-in leader. It was a little odd to see Leopardsun up there instead of Night...paw but she supposed this was just something she had to get used to. Though, a question lingered in her mind about the upcoming gathering... Would Nightpaw or Leopardsun be representing ShadowClan?

Convincing herself to remain in the present, she gently shook her head and continued to focus on whatever Leopardsun had to say.

"We are gathered here today," Leopardsun began once she spotted the apprentice she was looking for in the gathering crowd, "to witness a rare gift for ShadowClan: the naming of a new warrior. Cicadapaw, please step forward."

Cicadapaw was one of the older apprentices, and she recalled that her mentor had been Redice- who had been caught hunting a SkyClan warrior like prey, and executed in the aftermath. Despite that no doubt traumatic experience, Cicadapaw overall had seemed to be doing well.

"I call upon the warriors of ShadowClan to gaze upon this apprentice. She has trained hard to understand the ways of our honorable code, and I commend her to you as a warrior in turn."

Now she turned her gaze from the crowd to Cicadapaw in particular.

"Cicadapaw. Do you promise to uphold the warrior code, to protect and defend your Clan; even at the cost of your life?"

Leopardsun had her full attention as she called Cicadapaw forwards. Too busy flicking her tail with excitement, it took a small nudge from her mother for her to come forwards, standing, facing the cat at the base of the rock. "I do!" She couldn't hold back her smile.

When Cicadapaw's name was called, she looked down at her daughter to see her excited smile, but she seemed to be so excited that she had forgotten to move. With a quiet chuckle, she nudged the tortoiseshell molly forwards, and turned her attention back to Leopardsun at the base of the rock.

Leopardsun choked back a laugh at Cicadapaw's obvious enthusiasm. After being an apprentice for some time, it wasn't surprising that she was more than ready to move forward.

"Then it is my honor," she declared with conviction, "to name you a warrior before all of ShadowClan. Cicadapaw, from this day forward you will be known as Cicadasong. ShadowClan honors your kindness and your loyalty, and we are proud to welcome you as a warrior in your own right."

She stepped forward and touched her nose to the top of the newly-named warrior's head, as was customary.

"Congratulations, Cicadasong. Take some time with your Clanmates, then take up position for your vigil."
