Thunder and Lightning [c]

The usually headstrong and forward apprentice couldn't bring herself to make eye contact with her mentor. This was very new for the russet she-cat to experience: a firm and angry Comfreyheart. More and more she was beginning to understand that her actions that day brought distress to a lot of cats. But... Something deep within her was still angry about StarClan interfering. She scowled, but it quickly faded when Comfreyheart asked if she had wished Jaypaw would hit her. She remembered being gripped with so much rage that she begged him in her mind to hit her, to start something that she would have loved to finish. But at what point did it turn into wanting violence when it had started with protecting Rosepaw? 

"...Yes. I wanted a reason to draw blood. I was so so angry that he thought it was okay to speak to Rosepaw like that."  ThunderClan strength. Would it be beneficial to her family and clan to control the intense emotions she held at all times? "How would I do that? Control my emotions, that is."

Step one... Consider whether or not the consequences were worth it. Easier said than done. Had it been anyone else telling her this, she would have rolled her eyes so far back she could see her brain. She would not act or speak to her mentor like she did with some of her clanmates. Comfreyheart deserved respect and Firepaw felt guilt for actions that led to- Oh. This must be what the warrior had meant by considering the consequences. While she didn't care what happened to her, she did care what happened to those she loved. And sometimes heading right into anger and violence could negatively effect those she loved, even if it was done with protecting them in mind.

Comfreyheart succeeded in reassuring Firepaw that she was no longer mad at the apprentice. "Breath in... She mimicked Comfreyhearts deep breath, resting her own russet tail against her chest. "...Breath out." She repeated this once more, only stopping at Comfreyhearts poor choice of words. To Firepaw, though, it was a good laugh. "Don't worry; I know what you meant."

She did the breathing technique twice more, imaging herself as old oak with roots so deep it was unmovable, sturdy, unbothered by... uh... harsh winds. And it was working! All her pent up stress and anger, thoughts of that WindClan creature slowly fading into the back of her mind. "It... It worked! Thank you for being so patient with me, even after... Everything."
