Firepool nervously walked in the rear of the Skyclan procession, amber eyes watching for the other clans. He did as he had done before, as an apprentice. Sat on the edge of the gathering, watching from afar. Particularly, Smokestep, this time. She was his only real friend, which was weird since she had really just stepped on him by accident, then shared her food. Still, he felt a kinship, and he couldn't help but wonder if she felt the same. He was too nervous to go over to her though, especially with Falconpaw with her... of course, then he left her side. Digging his claws into the earth beneath with a nervous huff, the warrior pushed off, padding toward her.
"...Smokestep, hi." His voice was louder than usual as he tried to speak over the other clans that had arrived. He set himself down next to her, giving a glance to her apprentice in the distance. "How's Falconpaw?"
Firepool is speaking to Smokestep!
Tigershriek was happy to attend yet another gathering, even though he knew no one from the other clans. He actually enjoyed seeing all the cats, and it wasn't too bad watching Nightstar get to talk to everyone either. He loved watching him be... leader-y. Nightstar was basically his father, he wanted to see him in his element. Besides, maybe he'd meet someone new, get to talk about his fresh scars.
Tigershriek is sitting, watching Nightstar, and is open to talk to!
Sparrowpaw did as she always had at gatherings. She sat down, and shut up, though the shutting up wasn't anything new. She could hardly fathom why anyone would ever find a gathering enjoyable. Too many voices, too many cats. Too much that could go wrong, but at least her brother couldn't be one of those wrongs this time. She would sit alone, and hope nobody tried to talk to her.
Sparrowpaw is sitting alone, and is open to talk to, though she won't be happy about it!

Watching as cats continued to shuffle into the clearing, Pipsqueak couldn't relax his tense muscles no matter what he told himself. He knew that their uninvited presence here would draw attention to them and sure enough; he watched as a young cat bounded towards the pair. The cat looked cheery enough, but he couldn't be too sure on their intentions and decided to not rest easy until they left this odd, over crowded place. His father had mentioned gatherings to them, but the lengthy tom wasn't sure if he could ever truly be okay with the overall idea of them. Hopefully they'd learn more as time progressed.
Doing his best not to show his claws as the golden she-cat approached, Pipsqueak raised a brow at her question. So far no hostility, but he wasn't quite sure how long that would last. For now though, he guessed he'd might as well entertain her curiosity, or at least try to. "We're exploring," Pipsqueak mewed, unsure if that's what he should've called it. Casting a quick, skeptical gaze towards Forest he shifted it back to the stranger, his abnormally large ears pinned against his head. "Or something like that." If he was going to be honest, part of himself grew embarrassed at the situation. He wasn't meant to be some lowly loner; he was of clan blood and found himself wishing that they'd grown up in a clan so that other cats knew of him more than some outsider.
~~~~~
Having begun to work on cleaning some dirt that had gotten lodged in his paw pads from the trip, Fuzzface lifted his amber gaze when some-cat's voice began to talk to whom he presumed was him. "Sure?" he mewed with a shrug. He knew gatherings were meant to meet cats from other clans, but he certainly wasn't a fan of doing such a thing. As if it wasn't enough already having to deal with his own clanmates, and he was expected to become friends with even more cats; ones that he would hardly ever see again? The stars were funny, that was for sure.
Deep down though, he knew this she-cat wasn't going to leave. Letting out a sigh, he set down his paw and curled his short tail neatly around his rump as to make room for her. No reason to fight the system if that meant giving more effort than he needed to. "Fuzzface, WindClan," he said simply. Before he was able to say anything else, some-cat jumped against his back from behind and while his heart practically leaped out from his chest, the all too familiar voice that followed cause a wide smile to grow across his chubby maw. Silverwing! It was really her! Listening as she spoke, his spirits grew higher than they had in what felt like moons.
Standing up as she backed away from him, a purr erupted from deep within and he pressed himself against her, his rump raising affectionally in the air. "Of course I've missed you!" the plump grey warrior mewed, stepping back to meet her gaze. His mentor and one of his only friends had been rabbit-brained enough to get herself exiled and he didn't understand how or why she was here, but no matter the reason her presence was a true miracle. Oh how he'd missed her small talk and snack times... why had she been punished in such a way? In his mind it wasn't fair, but he wasn't going to dwell on that, for now at least. "Visit? I guess I'm supposed to automatically know where you've gone. My bad," he hissed in a lighthearted manner. Being in such a mood was odd for the usually dreary tom, but he couldn't help but be relieved that she was doing alright, wherever she had ended up at.
Turning towards Crowspirit, Fuzzface shook his head. "You didn't interrupt much," he mewed, turning back to Silverwing before sitting back down. "Why are you here? And how?" he questioned. Usually he could care less for details, but he couldn't help but wonder how she'd been doing. He couldn't believe he would ever think this about some cat, but great Silverpelt did he miss her company.
Adderdawn
Adderdawn wasn’t left to search the crowd for long before a familiar voice called his name, and he was turning to see Honeylight hurrying to him through the crowd. He dipped his head kindly in greeting, and gave the shorn ear a quick glance before focusing on Honeylight’s eyes. He thought for a second Honeylight’s scent was different too, but the overwhelming scent of every other Clan made it hard to focus on.
“It has been a while,” he agreed with another nod. “Have you been alright? We haven’t seen you since Highstones.” He left out the obvious question. Despite everything, he really did hope Honeylight had been well. He was one of the few sane cats in ShadowClan, and he’d always been a good cat the few times they got to talk.
“I’ve been alright,” Adderdawn mewed after a beat. Better since the Fourtrees patrol had returned, at least. Before he could think of more to say, another voice called out to him and a second cat came hurrying over. Immediately, Adderdawn straightened, and a rare smile warmed his expression. Pressing against his brother, he murmured, “I didn’t see you! I’m glad you came.” Honeylight would be good company for the Gathering, but he would feel even more comfortable with Flutterpetal present. Leaning back slightly to let them greet each other, Adderdawn quietly sat down and folded his tail around his paws, watching fondly.
Adderdawn is talking to Honeylight and Flutterpetal.
Rowanpaw
The thrill of being invited along with the Gathering party sat with Rowanpaw all day until RiverClan gathered to leave. If nothing else would cement his return, it would be seeing Fourtrees filled with the other Clans, milling about and speaking casually, no threat of twolegs looming over their shoulders. His paws itched to go, and he was nearly bouncing along at Stormdance’s side as they walked to the hollow.
But when they arrived, Rowanpaw suddenly felt he wanted to go home. The rolling chatter and mass of pelts didn’t fill him with the usual rush– instead, it made him felt uncomfortable and small. His lip curled as RiverClan padded down the slope and the moving crowd jostled against him. He was hyper-aware of the jingling against his neck. Gatherings seemed suddenly overwhelming and idiotic.
Still, despite feeling like an entire colony of ants had crawled under his pelt, he wanted to attempt socializing. There was no reason to be so frightened at a Gathering! With a determined snort, Rowanpaw stiffly raised his chin and padded into the crowd, wandering away from RiverClan’s shelter. The chatter of voices that sounded close to his age drew his attention, and Rowanpaw turned to see what looked to be two apprentices, one of them quite small. For a second, a passing cat obscured his vision, and when his line of sight was clear again there was an unmistakable black and white pelt joining them.
Rowanpaw’s tail bristled and he quickly spun on his pads. It hadn’t been anger that hit him, but shock and guilt. As he shoved carelessly through the crowd, he wondered if he should have turned around and said… something, but he could barely stomach the thought– actually going through with it might have killed him. Shaking off the momentary panic, Rowanpaw turned to actually look where he was going. He’d marched his way towards the front of the crowd. Smoothing the fur on his chest, Rowanpaw kept his head low and padded forward until the deputies were in view. With a sheepish wave of his tail towards Poppyshine, he sat down, keeping his paws close and his chin tucked again.
Rowanpaw is sulking by the deputies, but he's open to talk!
Poppyshine
Poppyshine entered the Gathering in far better spirits than she had the previous moon. Her family was home and RiverClan was large once more. They still had things to do to get their clan beck in working order, but she was practically glowing with happiness.
She approached the deputies beneath the Great Rock and purred brightly, “Hello! I hope everyone is doing well this moon.” It was nice to see now change in the high ranks between the other clans. After so much turmoil, a bit of consistent normalcy was nice. Besides, she really liked the deputies of the other clans. It was always nice to socialize. “Was everyone’s clanmates recovered from the twolegs?”
As she listened to responses, she looked past Wolfblossom’s shoulder and saw Rowanpaw sulking off to the side. She didn’t blame him for being wary here in Fourtrees, and she wished that she could sit with her son. Poppyshine offered him a smile and a wave back with her tail.
Iceheart
Iceheart blinked. Admittedly, Darkspirit’s retort was not expected. Nor was the blunt mention of her name and what it would mean. If this were months ago, perhaps she would have been sent into a darker part of her mind at the reminder. But be it that she was improving in her gasp on her emotions or she was simply so stunned by the conversation at hand, she felt no change in her mood.
“My name was given to me by a Dark Forest cat that led our clan at the time, actually,” she replied. “So I think of it as no more than that. I know who I am beyond a name given to me by a cat that is no longer here.” She paused and added, “For what it is worth, ‘Darkspirit’ is a very striking name. Stoatstar’s intention or not, it’s a name that commands attention. I don’t think anyone is defined by who they are related to, and that includes yourself.”
From what she’d gathered, many cats of the forest were related to that monster that invaded the forest almost her lifetime ago. It would be foolish to believe that they all were copies of him. She doubted Darkspirit was any more his father as she was her mother.
Iceheart is speaking with Darkspirit.
Crookedpaw
Crookedpaw smiled pleasantly at Acornpaw when they approached. He offered a short nod of greeting when they were all introduced. He pressed a little bit against Rainpaw in silent encouragement. He could tell that his friend was a bit nervous about conversing, so he took charge. “Strange indeed, but I’m sure the forest will return to normal in no time. We are both long overdue for our warrior names as well. We have yet to see the Moonstone, actually.” He flashed the ThunderClanner with a more charming smile that he had learned from Rowanpaw. “I’m sure that you’ll have a beautiful warrior name when your leader deems you ready. We apprentices have lived through quite the ordeal to earn them.”
Sootspirit padded slowly behind the rest of Riverclan, unsure of why he was here. It was a simple direction really, to attend the gathering. One his body followed without much question regardless of whether he wanted to or not. He assumed some part of him wanted to attend even though there was no one in the gathering that would pay attention to him, no one he knew as well. So he sat away from the biggest part of the crowd and just waited for it to be over.
Sootspirit is just existing, open to talk but it might not go well.
Tigerpaw was excited to be back among the other clans again, though he had hoped he would be a warrior by now. The lanky tom padded through the crowd, waving and swirling the crowd with grace, green eyes shifting here and there looking for something that caught his interest, something worth while. A specific tom caught his attention, seemed to be about the same age. A little on edge if he was honest.. Still the Windclan tom approached anyway. "Hey." A little straight forward, he supposed, but introductions were a little hard sometimes. "Being here not your favorite piece of prey huh?" He said to the Riverclan tom. "I'm Tigerpaw by the way."
Tigerpaw is talking with Rowanpaw!
Thornstalker was here once again. It wasn't that long ago that she was here helping free cats from the twoleg contraptions. Well.. She helped hold off the dogs. It was something at least. The small she-cat glanced around the different cats that had gathered but no one in specific caught her attention, until she spotted a brown tabby tom just staring at the leaders. Blue eyes remained on the tom until she was finally close enough. "Anything interesting up there?" She asked the tom.
Honeylight
Fourtrees
Honeylight’s clipped ear flicked as Adderdawn spoke of how long it’d been since he’d seen the Windclanner last. The moons in between their last meeting had swiftly become such a foggy blur to Honeylight. He’d lost track of just how long he was away, but his chest squeezed with a painful ache anyway. He pushed down the emotion. He was here to have fun, and have fun he would!
He opened his mouth to respond to Adderdawn’s question, and then he heard another bright voice and he swiveled his head to see the familiar face joining them. His already bright smile became impossibly brighter and warmer, and he eagerly waved his tail in greeting. “Flutterpetal!” He greeted joyfully, his own purrs rumbling out of his chest. He felt a similar urge to run up and do a more affectionate greeting, but he held himself back, aware of the crowd around them. He settled instead for moving close enough that he could flick his tail over Flutterpetal’s in greeting.
“It’s wonderful to see you,” He said, still smiling wide. “Don’t worry about the flowers-- we can both bring some to the next gathering! I’m sure by then Newleaf will bring us plenty of pretty flowers.” Honeylight giggled, already planning in his head the flower crown he would make as soon as the flowers bloomed for Flutterpetal. “I’m really glad you’re here! And I’m here and we’re all here!” He giggled a little more, purrs growing louder. His cheer, which he had been more of a decision he pushed himself into, began to feel entirely genuine as he sat with his friends.
Returning to Adderdawn’s question, Honeylight turned his head back to the other tom and said, “And I’ve been good! I was… away from home for a while,” His tail flicks. “But I’m back now! And everything’s good. Have you been doing alright as well, Flutterpetal? And Windclan as a whole?” Honeylight sat back comfortably, fluffy tail wrapping around his big paws as he settled in, looking between his two friends with bright, happy eyes.
Rainpaw
Fourtrees
Rainpaw relaxed as the unfamiliar apprentice --Acornpaw-- began to speak to them. Clearly he hadn’t made some sort of social blunder, and she seemed happy to speak to them. He was just as happy to let Crookedpaw take the lead in the response, however. His ear twitches at the charming smile Crookedpaw flashes, a strange feeling in his chest. He was used to Crookedpaw being social, but this felt a little…different? The ways Crookedpaw had changed kept catching him off-guard, but he shook the feeling off.
He pressed lightly against Crookedpaw in return, looking towards Acornpaw once more. “Yeah. It’s nice everything’s returning to normal. I’m sure we’ll all be warriors soon.” He sounded much more uninterested in the whole affair then either Acornpaw or Crookedpaw, but he really was looking forward to becoming a warrior.
Rainpaw is talking to Acornpaw and Crookedpaw!
Stormdance
Fourtrees
Stormdance walked towards Fourtrees with a little apprehension in his step, but it seemed that all had returned to normal. There was no sign of the twoleg’s invasion, and the stars twinkled above in the sky. Stormdance’s shoulders relaxed, and he flicked a reassuring tail over Rowanpaw’s back as his apprentice wandered into the crowd to find someone to talk to.
As tempting as it was, he was sure Rowanpaw would be unappreciative of his hovering, even if he seemed more tense than usual. Still, the action was a little reminder Stormdance would be nearby if Rowanpaw needed him.
Blue eyes sweeping over the crowd, Stormdance found himself seeking out one of his usual comfortable little spots. He sat down where he could easily keep an eye on his clanmates, but he didn’t approach anyone just yet, content to just sit back and watch the proceedings.
Acornpaw had a gentle smile on her face as Crookedpaw spoke up - thought she quickly straightened up with a sharp blush heating her cheeks as he gave her a charming smile and noted that he was sure she would have a 'beautiful' warrior name. "A-ah..." she managed, glancing away sheepishly. "Everything being normal is nice...I hope I am a warrior soon, I feel so bad for neglecting my training." Her smile faded a little as her thoughts turned onto Sunstrike. "...My...Mentor disappeared early on when everything started. He didn't come back with everybody else. I wanted to hope he would find his way back so I waited...But..." She shook her head, straightening up. "Sorry, I didn't mean to take down the mood. You are right - we will be warriors soon! And with wonderful names to match us," she added, turning back to the two. "Do...You guys have any names you are hoping for? As long as my name is pretty, I think I would be happy with anything. Something nice and soft..." A wistful sigh escaped her at that, but her gaze remained on the two SkyClan toms as she waited to hear their answers.
Snowfoot padded into Fourtrees, the familiar buzz of chatter filling her ears. She dearly hoped this Gathering would be a peaceful one, but with tensions rising on two of their borders she felt a little bit uneasy. Hoping to take her mind off of things, she began to scan the crowd for a certain face.
Snowfoot is open to talk to but is looking for Fawneye.
Moondancer padded into fourtrees at the back of Shadowclan's patrol, not particularly thrilled about the idea of spending time in the hollow among the unkempt, unruly cats of other clans. Memories of how the last gathering she'd attended played out in her mind, and her green eyes narrowed as they swept over the other clans, the sense of disgust she felt not even close to have faded. She would sit among her own clanmates, and if the other clan cats were smart, they wouldn't approach someone who was so clearly above them all.
Moondancer is sitting among Shadowclanners, and is open to talk to at your own risk.
thrushpaw
At Falconpaw's comment, Thrushpaw couldn't help but let out an amused chuckle. It was true — maybe a bit too much of a coincidence that they all had different types of birds as their names, but he found it rather interesting. "Heh, I doubt all of us are bird-brains. It's funny how we all do have bird names, though." Then, he paused for a moment. The scents swirling around his nose were all of the different clans — which he would have to memorize well, so he made a silent effort in doing so. It would probably be better to get to know a bit more of each clan as well, so he spoke again.
"So, what are SkyClan and WindClan like? I've seen SkyClan through the borders, but I've never got to directly step foot on it before, obviously."
Thrushpaw is talking to Falconpaw and Kestrelpaw!
Crowspirit
Crowspirit blinked, awkwardly shifting her paws as she saw the shift in the attitude of Fuzzface towards Silverwing. She couldn't help but feel as if she was an outsider in midst of a reunion, of some kind, and she remained silent, simply smiling in wait for the two of them to converse together. Her yellow eyes scanned the crowd, in case she did need to leave.
Crowspirit is staying quiet and is looking for someone else to talk to. (Feel free to approach her!)
Badgerpaw glanced around as more and more cats were arriving - before a familiar pelt sitting on her lonesome caught her eye. For a few heartbeats, she was tempted to remain where she was but she shook her head as she pushed herself to her paws. No, she had been hoping to get a moment like this for a while - there hadn't been many moments to just...Sit with her sister and get to know her - not since Moondancer had moved on from the apprentice's den.
"Hey Moondancer," she greeted as she approached, sitting a pawlength or two away. She spared a glance at the cats that surrounded them - many content to mingle with the other Clans. She personally didn't get it - cats always had their own motives. She could trust her family and...She hoped she could trust her Clanmates but the other Clans? There was no telling what their desires would be, if they were ever truly as kind as they could appear... "This is your second Gathering, right?" she asked, turning her attention back to her littermate. She had heard some stories about what had happened during the last one - chaos, apparently but she had never had the thought to really ask more about it. But to know what her sister thought... "What do you think about the other Clans?"
Badgerpaw has chosen to approach her sister Moondancer for family bonding.
Locustcall
You're the pretender, what if I say I'll never surrender?
Locustcall followed along with the rest of the group, though hung close to Nightstar. None of his nervousness showed on his face, but his eyes would often subtly flick to his leader's leg before he forced it back to the land ahead. If they were lead by any other cat, his focus would be on how this would affect the views on Shadowclan... but his mind never wandered there this time.
They reached the clearing and he kept to shadowclan's side, glancing to the other cats in Fourtrees. It looked like Tigershriek had been approached already. The tom's tail flicked, but decided against joining them. It would be good for his former apprentice to meet other clans... at least it wasn't some Windclan cat. Instead, the muscular tom sat, his gaze lifting to the leaders. It looked like Riverclan was the last to join the others, Perchstar just leaping onto the rock.
Locustcall is open to talk to! (Windclan need not apply)
Martenpaw
I'm alright, I'm okay, I'm alright, I'm okay
Martenpaw blinked at the large amount of cats in the clearing. His heart sped up a bit in his chest, his paws remaining still at the edge before he willed himself to follow the rest of his clan. He didn't realize the other clans had so many cats... His blue eyes searched through the other Riverclan cats, but he couldn't find his mentor, the familiar cats dispursing and merging with the new...
With his mentor out of sight, Martenpaw's large paws searched for a cat his age. That was what he was supposed to do, right? His eyes landed on a shorter tortie she-cat who looked... kinda upset? Maybe she was nervous too? He held still for a moment, gathering some courage before lumbering over.
"Hello, I'm Martenpaw. Do you mind if I sit with you?" He asked softly, his head tilting in question. "It's ok if you don't." He didn't want to assume; that was rude.
The large she-cat placed herself a bit aways Tigershriek, anxious that she didn't understand the relationship between the two cats. Harriertalon's loyalty to Nightstar meant analyzing anyone who got close to him, making sure they did him no harm. Sure, she could just ask. But what if Nightstar thought she was being too nosey? The two seemed to mirror one another when it came to their personal life. Or maybe she wasn't paying close enough attention. Batswarm was a handful, after all.
Another cat approached Tigershriek, obstructing her view of the tom and forcing her to go mingle elsewhere. A heavy sigh escaped her as she found the nearest recognizable cats: Badgerpaw and Moondancer. She greeted them both with a nod a purr, completetly forgetting about Nightstar and Tigershriek. "Hope you two don't mind if I join you." Though Moondancer didn't look all that happy to be here. Batswarm refused to come, probably for the same reasons Moondancer looked disgusted about.
Harriertalon has joined her sisters Badgerpaw and Moondancer.
Batswarm refused to come.
Firepaw is confined to camp as punishment for the last gathering.
It wasn't long before a cat had approached Moondancer, and if it had been someone who hadn't been Shadowclan... been her sister, even, she might have greeted them with a curled lip and self-righteous sneer. As it was though, Badgerpaw was her littermate, and Moondancer would show her no such disrespect. "Hey, sis," She mewed. "The last gathering ended with lightning hitting some apprentice from another clan. I do not have high hopes these cats can stay civilized during this one, either." She answered the question easily, not really caring who heard her. Harriertalon had joined the two she-cats as well, and Moondancer gave her a brisk nod in greeting. "Hi - and sure - I don't think it's worth the trouble of talking to any of them." She added to Badgerpaw. "Best to just stick to our own clanmates."
Subject: Re: March Gathering 2023 Mon Mar 06, 2023 4:42 pm
Badgerpaw listened intently as Moondancer spoke, eyes narrowing slightly. Some apprentice had messed up so badly that they got hit by lightning? A huff escaped her, sparing a glance around. The rules of the Gathering seemed simple enough, what line did you have to cross that something like that would happen? It only served to further her doubt in speaking to any of the other Clans - thought her sour expression quickly faded as Harriertalon approached, giving her a purr. "I would never mind," she responded softly, before she turned to look back at Moondancer as she spoke once more. "You are likely right... Don't know if I would trust them anyways," she admitted with a shrug of her shoulders. At least with her Clanmates, she could likely assume that their interests aligned with ShadowClan that some trust could be had. For the other Clans however... No doubt they would always put their Clan first, and that meant she could never truly trust them.
