| Rookfire and Duskflight had been assigned on a patrol to scout ShadowClan territory. Honestly, the black tuxedo didn't know him very well, so this patrol would probably be good for small talk, at least until they get onto ShadowClan territory itself. "So, Duskflight, what do you like to do in your free time?" Rookfire said, smiling at his fellow ShadowClan warrior.
As they arrived at the Thunderpath, Rookfire gazed around. Every time he stepped near the Thunderpath, he remembered the time when the Twolegs took him away from ShadowClan territory. The time he spent as a kittypet wasn't awful, at least for him. But he was overall happy with his decision to return to ShadowClan, especially because the Dark Forest took over later. Though Rookfire didn't exactly like the takeover, he was happy that he didn't leave his clanmates to fight this threat by themselves.
Stars, he was getting distracted. Look at ShadowClan territory, mousebrain! From where he was standing, it didn't look that bad. Of course, he couldn't actually check it without crossing. "It looks alright from here," he said, "But to really get a closer look, we need to cross. I don't think I have to warn you about how dangerous the Thunderpath is, but..." The warrior's gaze darkened. "The worst things happen when you're least expecting it."
As the two cats crossed the Thunderpath, Rookfire stepped onto ShadowClan territory. Home, his mind immediately added. "The ground feels... a little muddier than I remember at this part of the territory, but it's probably safe to walk on. Duskflight didn't exactly mind conversing with another clanmate, especially if it was someone he hadn't had much chance to talk to. Considering how less social he was now, Fuzzybelly, Swiftheart, and her kits — he realized he didn't talk all that much. He should attempt to be more open, even if it was gradually becoming odder for him to return to the social butterfly he used to be. As Rookfire started the conversation, he would ponder for a moment. "I suppose it would be quite obvious, but hunting and patrolling generally take my mind off things. Not the most unique choices out there, though, is it?" He gave a small chuckle. Spending time with Swiftheart, or his family in general, often also brought him peace and relaxation. "And you?"Their paws would lead them to the Thunderpath, and the unpleasant, putrid smell of the monster-ridden path made his ears pull back in response. It wasn't the most favorable of places for all cats who knew better than to risk their lives. But the road seemed empty enough — at least for now. They crossed with caution, and his eyes held a sense of hope as he made his way across to his clan's territory. ShadowClan.How homesick he was to set his paws again on the mud-slicked surface of the murky land. "Glad we made it through safely." He spoke, breathing in the scent of pine and marsh. Duskflight couldn't help but feel a smile spread across his face. "Surely muddier, but at least, it's much better than imagining the still-flooded sight of our marshland." He spoke, eyes scanning carefully in observation. Green eyes returned to look at the warrior, nodding. "We should be cautious of where we place each step, but I'm sure you know that already. It should be safe enough to continue.
