Beetlepaw's Moonstone Journey

Beetlepaw lifted her head sleepily at Fawnshone's voice, before getting up and padding out to where the medicine cat was waiting. She'd be lying if she said she wasn't excited to be going to the moonstone, as it brought her one step closer to finally becoming a warrior. She swallowed the herbs with a grimace, the bitter flavor making her wince. Once she'd finished she straightened, licking her fur a few times to get rid of the unpleasant taste.

"Alright, I'm ready!" She said, the enthusiasm in her voice less forced than usual.

The events of the past gathering were the last thing on Beetlepaw's mind as she followed Fawnshine out of camp. In her mind, it had nothing to do with her, so why should she bother? So what, a bunch of dead cats had gotten upset and started throwing rocks, whatever, seemed like a pretty childish way to deal with their anger if you asked her. The journey to the moonstone seemed shorter than she'd expected, but maybe that was just because her excitement drowned out everything else. She followed behind Fawnshine once they reached Highstones, her whiskers brushing the medicine cat's tail. She wasn't quick to admit that she needed help, but she also wasn't stupid enough to pretend that she could navigate the pitch-black darkness of the tunnels on her own. Finally, they'd arrived, the image of a dazzling stone almost taking Beetlepaw's breath away. She'd heard it was magnificent, but this? Fawnshine's instructions echoed in the stony chasm, and Beetlepaw took slow, shaky steps toward the Moonstone, suddenly apprehensive. She touched her nose to the stone, closing her eyes and awaiting what would happen next.

As the young cat touched her nose to the stone, it was dark for a long moment. Then, the light grew stronger, awakening the young she-cat, as if asking her to open her eyes.

Before her, a fluffy silver tabby sat, tail wrapped around his paws. On his face, was a large smile, friendly, and reminiscent of Mottlerose and Minnowfin. Morningsun waited a long while for the apprentice to fully awaken before he spoke. "Hello Beetlepaw!" He greeted, a purr leaving his starry form. "You've completed so much training, I'm really impressed with all your hard work!" The sparkle in his green eyes proved to the apprentice that he was in fact genuine about his excitement for her. In all honesty, Morningsun was not much bigger than Beetlepaw, having died as a young warrior. But the fluffy pelt of his made him seem just a tad bit bigger. "Oh!" He began, perking up. "Welcome to StarClan, we have been expecting your visit." The purr grew stronger, happy to see his clan was doing well.
