What are the duties of a medicine cat? : Everyone knows that medicine cats treat the sick, but they are in many ways the priests of the Clans. Medicine cats are the only ones that regularly get dreams from StarClan, interpret omens, and maintain the emotional health of the Clan. The medicine cat can sometimes be a confidant, both for warriors and even for the leader and deputy. They have an intimate connection with the other medicine cats, concerned for the health of their Clanmates. Herb gathering is crucial, and is much harder in leafbare than the other seasons, and some herbs may be in other territories, which requires an alliance of sorts to get the medicine you need for your Clan.
Of course, treating the sick is a huge umbrella. It can be anything from a torn claw to battle injuries to kitting and everything in between. Medicine cats have to be open to that and acknowledge that they did what they could, because they can't save everyone. This is a hard realization and can ignite feelings of failure in them. They also tend to the dead and bring leaders to receive their nine lives from StarClan.
What would you do with this position? : I think being MCA would be beneficial to Fuzzykit because he is so focused on being a positive energy, which is sometimes needed, but the position will also challenge him in ways that being a warrior would not. How does one handle the loss of a queen to kitting, or admitting that there's nothing more he can do for an ailing Clanmate?
He also has a deep faith, ironically while the Dark Forest is meandering about, and this would capsize his whole world. Interpreting dreams and omens would be hard for him, especially at first because he is not the sharpest tool in the shed, but he is excitable, devoted, and willing to learn. As he matures in the role, he may believe that StarClan is not that much different than the Clans here and now, which is a very uncomfortable realization and could cause a crisis of faith.
Why you think you deserve this position? : I've been a medicine cat for a website in the past, eons ago. I also now have a regular schedule and can commit to regularly posting with him. In addition, I am always open for juicy plots and I am always willing to have a thread with any character. I'm open to anything with him, and I hope that he can be a good fit for ShadowClan.
