Neglected Space [C]

Cicadashriek lifted his head when the owl ceased its struggle, glad it was gone so they could go back to hunting for their clan. Hunting the rats here would not only offer food, but get rid of a threat as well. While not as outwardly dangerous like an owl or fox, rats could still deal a nasty bite if a cat wasn't wary of their odd teeth.

He crept away, hiding in the shadows of garbage and two-leg junk in search of the telltale squeaks of a rodent. His preferred prey was reptiles, but those were increasingly hard to find in the cold. They were smart and attempting to sleep the season away. He sniffed the air, having to filter through the scent of rubbish before being able to catch the smell of rat nearby. Keeping low, he snuck closer until the rodent was in sight, watching it pick through the contents of a shiny black pelt. A two-leg thing.

Once he felt he was close enough, he lept, but fell a whisker short of his target. It released a squeak of fright before scampering off and out of reach in a blink. Cicadashriek snorted, his tail flicking in irritation as he attempted to find a new catch.
