September Medicine Cat Meeting

Mossbloom hobbled towards Highstones, her breathing hoarse and shaky. Her limbs weren't as strong as they had been, and the journey had taken a lot out of her, but she pushed on. Her eyes were trained on the distant peaks as they drew closer, only looking at her side occasionally to find Daisybloom and give a breathless grin. As the calico clambered up the last rocks and stones leading towards Mothermouth, she wearily collapsed onto her side, gasping for air. The coughing fits had returned for a time, but had recently subsided - but the damage had been done. Even just getting out of the ravine was a task that left the old she-cat gasping, and the white in her pelt stood out against the brown and black that dappled her length. The medicine cat had considered retirement on numerous occasions, but the thought of moving out of the medicine den, away from the scent of herbs and her apprentice, was one that terrified her. However, news of Mothglow and Aspenheart's death had reached her, and she knew that soon it would be her time. Slowly catching her breath, she looked towards Daisybloom with a weak smile, flicking her tail in a half-hearted cheery manner. "Is it just me, or is this journey longer than usual?" She purred raspily, slowly sitting up from her laying position. "The others should be here soon, let's wait for them."

Mossbloom had definitely been weaker the past few moons. Bought of sickness had come and gone, and although the older medicine cat had somewhat recovered, her weakness was evident. Daisybloom feared that her former mentor was getting closer and closer to...well, she didn’t like thinking about it. The calico had always been so sweet, so kind. It was hard to imagine life without her. Making her way to the Moonstone, she was careful to make sure that her companion was alright. The tabby felt selfish for wishing that her mentor wouldn’t retire, but she knew that it was coming. She just hoped that whenever it did happen, Mossbloom would have a good retirement.

Looking back as she heard the words of her companion, she smiled. ”I’m really glad you could come with me. Even though I’ve been doing this for moons, I still feel nervous coming up here and talking, and delivering prophecies and whatnot. But I also want you to be careful. Don’t push yourself too hard, please.”

Mossbloom purred, chuckling lightly. "I'm glad to be here! I wish I could say it gets easier, but it really doesn't. It feels like there's always something, doesn't it?" She mewed, shaking her head from side to side before smiling back at Daisybloom, green eyes glittering with warmth. "Don't you worry, I'll be careful. Perhaps on the way back we can take a break a Fourtrees, see if anything is growing in those bushes?" She pondered aloud, looking to the sky before back down to look out over the rocks back towards the clans. "We're running short on time... I hope everyone else is okay..." She murmured before standing and flicking her tail towards Daisybloom. "We should go, perhaps StarClan has answers about the others - if they need help we can get to work." With that, she turned and led the way towards the Moonstone, following the path ingrained in her memory at this point. The Moonstone's glow was bright as they finally entered the cavern, and Mossbloom didn't hesitate before settling next to it and pressing her nose to the cool stone. Her mind when dark as StarClan prepared to share with her.

Mossbloom blinked and sat up, taking in the area around her. Fourtrees.... She breathed in as the wind seemed to wrap around her, carrying the scent of gorse, grass, and sunshine. WindClan. The wind shifted, carrying a very familiar scent of ferns, trees, and dirt. ThunderClan. Her attention was drawn to a middle point between the clans, where two shadowy figures met and shared tongues, a silent phantom of a meeting that had either happened or was going to. With a sigh, Mossbloom looked around. "The Righteous Few weren't enough to stop this. You fought against them, to protect this and so many other things. So why then do you continue to do this?" She was met with silence, and with a lash of her tail she turned her back on the two misty cats. "Fine. I will warn them, but I will not stop them."

Waking slowly, Mossbloom felt stiff as she found her paws and got up from her place next to the Moonstone, moving to the edge of the cavern to wait for Daisybloom.

'StarClan Revelation' :

Daisybloom smiled. ”It’s nice, being here, with you.” It really was. ”Of course we can stop.” she mewed gently, eyes glinting with warmth. Realization of the lack of medicine cats slowly set in. She nodded, standing up and following her mentor to the stone. She hoped her friends in the other clans were alright. She laid down and touched her nose to the Moonstone, eyes shutting.

Waking up, she looked around, a bit confused by her surroundings. But then her vision cleared, and she could see where she was.

A silver tom crept out from the tall, shimmering glade. He was hauntingly familiar in all but stature. He was graceful and nimble as he bounded out to meet Daisybloom. He offered her a forced smile. There was not good news tonight. "Ivystar is in danger. I will give you the message StarClan gave to me, on my very last half-moon meeting. Hear their message, and carry out the will of the ancestors." Aspenheart bowed his head, a low sigh escaping him. "I wish I had acted on it before I died."

It was Aspenheart, she realized. He had been a Windclan medicine cat before his death.

The ancestral medicine cat rolled up to stand tall once more, clearing his throat from the nasally quality that he usually held. "Every briar has thorns," he said, voice detached as he embodied those of many ancestors. "No matter the petals of his past."

As quickly as he had appeared, he was gone. It sounded as if someone had summoned him back from where they stood in the glade, shouting his name above the chattering of crickets. The tom beamed as he turned around and began to leap through the ryegrass, tail twitching fondly. Time to run.

She woke up, eyes widened. She crept toward Mossbloom, swallowing a lump in her throat. Spotting Spiderquill, she looked at him. ”I need to tell you something, it’s about Ivystar...”

'StarClan Revelation' :

Spiderquill huffed loudly as he finally cambered up to highs tones, far later than he had ever arrived to a meeting. He had lost track of time, only realising it was time to go when Sagelight and his apprentice reminded him for the umpteenth time that now was not a good time to sort herbs. The others weren't even there anymore, they were receiving their prophecies. Smiling hastily at his two companions, the thin pelted cat all but ran into the cave and practically crashed into the Moonstone.

With SkyClan's recent move to the RiverClan camp, Sagelight was both grateful and jealous that the journey to Highstones from their new home was much shorter than from the SkyClan camp. It was easier on his bones and thin frame, however, which was a blessing. Spiderquill was rather forgetful and Sagelight often had to remind the younger medicine cat that they needed to start heading out. Their tardiness was apparent once the traveling cats reached the the entrance to Mothermouth, as their colleagues had already descended to the Moonstone. Sagelight gave Beechpaw a faintly amused look as Spiderquill rocketed down the tunnel. As much as he wished he could do the same, the older medicine cat was still trying to regain his strength from his time spent in the Twolegplace. He made his way down the tunnel at his own pace, finally reaching the cavern that held the Moonstone. It was no longer lit and the time to receive a prophecy had passed, but Sagelight laid down by the stone and touched his nose to it anyway. At the very least, he could try and get a restful night's sleep for once. He could catch up with his colleagues and friends later.

Beechpaw rolled her eyes upon realizing they were late. Of course they were late, even though the journey to the moonstone was shorter than it would be in their own territory and definitely shorter than it had been from twolegplace. She'd never liked being late for training sessions with Wolfcall, and it was no different here at the moonstone.

Still, the youngest of their little group followed Sagelight, returning his amused look as the Riverclan medicine cat practically bolted down the tunnel. She had yet to meet any of the other medicine cats, and figured that doing so would have to wait until they'd all woken up. Fine by her, really, though Beechpaw had to admit that she was... curious to meet them. She was curious to meet Starclan again, if more hesitant, though she knew that tonight her dreams would not hold anything prophetic or message-y on account of their lateness.

Still, she took her place next to Sagelight at the moonstone anyways.

Mossbloom gazed around, noticing the figures of others. Letting out a breath of relief as she recognized mostly familiar faces (although one new one stuck out, next to Sagelight) she turned towards Daisybloom as she rose. The look on her apprentice's face and the way she moved worried her, and Mossbloom padded to meet her as she whispered to Spiderquill. Ivystar was in danger? Her eyes narrowing, she nodded and motioned towards the path back to Mothermouth. "Come, let's discuss further in the night air." She whispered, hoping she didn't disturb the others.
