Sans' Renaming Ceremony

Sans padded out of the warriors’ den, looking up at Thornstar. He tilted his head curiously. What was this meeting about? No kit was old enough to become an apprentice yet, and he didn’t think any apprentice was to become a warrior, otherwise the Clan would be raving about it. What could it be?

Having been enjoying a piece of prey near the fresh-kill pile, Daisyflame's ears perked at Thornstar's call. He hadn't thought any kit nor apprentice needed a ceremony just yet, so naturally, his curiosity was peaked at this little surprise. Making his way to the front of the growing crowd, Daisyflame's amber gaze was locked on the she-cat above, his ears perked and head tilted every so slightly.

The word left his lips the moment he heard his leader nearly speak his former name. Asterspark, it had been such a strong and meaningful name to him in the past. It signified not only his separation from the lies of his heritage fed to him by the late Minnowcall and Blazeflight, but it also dedicated his love for his late first beloved, even if Sparkfeather had not been old enough to become his mate before she passed.

However, he didn't wish to be renamed Asterspark. No, he had a different name on his mind. While he would never forget Sparkfeather, his heart now belongs to Thornstar. The cat whom he had been stuck to like moss on a rock ever since he developed a crush on her. Even during their separation during the Great Flood, he never forgot about her, and he could tell that deep inside, even if she were too proud or annoyed to admit it, the ShadowClan leader loved him, too. Otherwise, he would not be the father of her kits.

He had chosen his warrior name during his warrior ceremony many moons ago to honor his first love. Now, he would choose his new warrior name during his renaming ceremony.

"Heh, sorry for interruptin' like that, Thorny, but...." He looked her in the eye -- those two beautiful green eyes, one belonging to her, and one belonging to her brother. Sootstrike had been a very important aspect of Thornstar's life. Perhaps the most important. He wanted to honor his second love just as he had done his first, and what better way to do so than to ask.... "I wish for my new warrior name to be not Asterspark, but Asterstrike."

A purr rose in Asterstrike's throat, and he bowed his head gratefully to his leader, his mate. It would take a while to get used to his new name, but he knew he would not regret it in the least.

"Asterstrike! Asterstrike!" Sparkfire cheered quite loudly for her father. Finally, it was about time, he was given a proper Clan name. She had been so used to calling her Sans, though, so this would take quite a bit of time to remember. Apparently, he had been called Asterspark in the past? Perhaps that's where she had gotten her own name from.

She was proud of her father.

In spite of feeling very depressed and rather angry for the past several days ever since Redwing's tragic death, the name Thornstar had called upon during the Clan meeting Poppyheart initially didn't feel like attending to had perked his interest. Asterspark? He had been going by the name Sans for so long, ever since he rejoined the Clan about a moon ago after a brief period of time in exile after the downfall of StagClan. Now, it seemed he was finally going to be given his name back. He didn't want to miss his brother's renaming ceremony, so he forced himself out of his moss bed and went to sit outside of the warriors' den.

"Sans, from this moment on you shall be known as Asterstrike."

Poppyheart blinked in surprise. Well, that was unexpected. He assumed Asterspark -- er, Asterstrike would have just been given his old name back. But it seemed he had chosen to honor his new mate by honoring her brother. He softly chuckled. That was his brother, all right, such a hopeless romantic. He rose his voice to cheer alongside the rest of the Clan for his brother. "Asterstrike! Asterstrike!"

Flintshard had followed his sister from the warrior's den at the call of Thornstar, sitting nearby to Sparkfire as he listened to her words. A renaming ceremony for his father, huh? His gaze slide over to Sans when he suddenly interrupted, expressing his desire to be named Asterstrike. ...Strike. That was familiar. He titled his head, recalling his conversion at his Moonstone with Thornstar's brother - Sootstrike. Odd, he would change his name to match him... Hm.

However, Thornstar didn't seem to have an issue with it and so his father was now Asterstrike. As the Clan started to chant the new name, Flintshard raised his voice to join them. "Asterstrike! Asterstrike!" While there was certain not the same energy behind it, he found he liked it. He could grow use to calling his father by that name - not that he would ever call him by anything else.
