Adderkit’s Apprentice Ceremony

The Riverclan deputy jump to the Willow Branch, ready for another ceremony. ”Let all cats old enough to hunt their own prey, gather beneath the willow branch for a clan meeting!” He called while he tossed the snow of his paws waiting for the young kit to come.

Splashwillow had spent half of the morning fussing over Adderkit, clearly intent on grooming out the various knots and kinks in her fur despite any protests. But her mother’s suffocating presence did little to quell the excitement brewing within the young kit as she heard Jaystream’s call, and Adderkit just about tore down half of the nursery in her haste to get out into the clearing.

Ignoring Splashwillow’s exasperated warning glance, Adderkit sauntered into the center of the clearing to where Jaystream was waiting, her tail proudly curled.

"Adderkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and now it is time for you to be apprenticed. From now on you will be known as Adderpaw until the day you're ready to become a warrior. Your mentor will be Viperstorm. I pray to the stars that she gives you her loyalty and strength during your training.” He mewed with a smile as the tom saw how excited she was for this moment. The Riverclan bad no doubts. Viperstorm was surely one of the best and most loyal warriors in all the clan. She was going to be a good mentor for Adderpaw.

Her? As a mentor? She didn't think she was fit enough to be a mentor, but maybe being a queen first gave them sign enough she was ready to be a mentor. The blue gray she-cat padded up to her newly named apprentice, and touched noses with her. A Viper and an Adder together? Well that would cause some chaos surely. "I look forward to training you." She was going to make sure that Adderpaw was loyal. She couldn't have Riverclan ending up with another Swanpaw or Spotpaw.. Those traitors..

The newly-named Adderpaw couldn't help but offer a lopsided simper in response to Jaystream's ceremonial words, the familiar fire of anticipation sparking in her sharp gaze. Her chest puffed out and her chin jutted into the air as she basked in the Deputy's short speech, clearly reveling in her long-awaited moment. At the mention of Viperstorm, the newly appointed apprentice turned to give the short-furred she-cat an eager gaze- Viperstorm had shared the nursery with Splashwillow at some point or another, so she knew first hand how fierce the blue-grey Warrior could be. A perfect mentor then!

Scrambling to her paws so that she could touch noses with Viperstorm, Adderpaw gave the older she-cat a beaming grin before hurriedly squawking out, "I won't disappoint you! I'll be the best Warrior that RiverClan's ever seen!"
