Paws Full [Closed]

The orange warrior padded towards the apprentice's den. This time it was not for his son, but rather, another new apprentice. Leopardstar and him him come to some level of trust and that showed through clearly with the number of young cats he had been training lately. He stretched against the cool night air. It was a lot to keep up with so many young and energetic cats. Firepaw had begun to loose his kit-like ways and become more of a warrior. This would take him back to the beginning all over again. The prospect itself was a bit exhausting. But, in order to keep the clan strong, he needed to do his duty and train up as many good warriors as possible, just as he had once been trained.

Flamestrike picked his way into the apprentice's den. He quickly found Starlingpaw's sleeping frame. With a gentle paw, he shook the younger cat, "Time to wake up, we have training." He turned to wait outside, attempting not to step on any sleeping apprentices. Once outside, his tail wrapped over his paws and he waited patiently for the other cat to join him. This time around, he was in no rush to get things started. Of course, their training would be as through and rigorous as ever before, but there was no need to yowl at the kit for a few wasted seconds in the name of sleep.

Starlingpaw woke up immeidately when she heard Flamestrike's voice. She shoke herself and then suddenly stopped seeing a lot of sleeping apprentices around her. Quietly she padded out of the den alomost stepping on leg of one apprentice. Full of relief she exited the warm den and stepped on also quite hot atmosphere, which was waiting for her outside. Greenleaf was really hot and unpleasent sometimes. Then she switly turned to her mentor and mewed: "What are we doing today?"

Flamestrike managed a half-smile as she joined him. He stood his pelt as he stood up. Despite the cooler night air, the humidity and heat was still unpleasant; he felt it too. Even though it was not the best night to begin training, his new apprentice still seemed enthusiastic. Flicking her pelt with his tail in a greeting, the orange warrior meowed, "I was planning on showing you the territory, and maybe doing some hunting along the way. What do you think?" He started padding towards the entrance as he waited for Starlingpaw to answer.

"Of course," nodded Starlingpaw excited following Flamestrike and waving her black tail. She woukd get to know ShadowClan territory very soon and maybe a pinch of hunting would follow then. A great combination.

The orange warrior took her straight for the Thunderpath. The trek seemed to stretch on for a long time. As a much younger cat, he had felt that his energy to could on onward for moons. Yet, he still managed just fine with his long legs just skimming over the earth. When they finally stopped, a couple tail-lengths away, his nose wrinkled up at the stench. Flamestrike's tail went in front of Starlingpaw. She was blocked from accidentally rushing onto the Thunderpath. Many cats had been crushed under the relentless paws of the roaring beasts.

"This is the Thunderpath. I'm sure you've heard of it. Crossing is dangerous, and a monster will crush you without hesitation here. Do you know anything else about this?." Flamestrike made sure to look down at her as he spoke. Just as he looked away, a roaring drowned out all other sounds. A monster. Its horrid smell filled his nostrils and the ground shook. The warrior just barely suppressed the urge to flinch. After all this time, the creatures were just as terrifying. He hoped that Starlingpaw wouldn't be too frightened by this experience on her first day out. Firepaw had managed well, and he hoped the same for her.

Starlingpaw was shoken. It was grouse smell and monsters were quiet terrifying while looking at them. She tried to calm her and she replied: "They don't live Thunderpath, right? Because we would be death already if such a thing come into the forest." She shoke again when another acid smelling things passed away. She was also quite happy that they weren't going to cross it. She heard that many cats died because of monsters and she wasn't going to be the same.

Flamestrike shook his head, "No, this is their home. They never leave. They also never stay in one place long enough. It seems they don't really think about anything other than going." Once the monster was gone, the warrior found himself sighing in relief at the peace. Even if he never reacted much outwardly, they always set his fur on end. When they could see the other side of the path, he flicked his tail towards the other part of the forest, "That is Thunderclan territory over there. We're separated by the Thunderpath, which keeps us safe from them, if there ever was a threat of their crossing. However, Shadowclan uses a tunnel under the path to cross so we can avoid the paws of the monsters." After explaining, he turned away to the rest of the forest. There was still so much more to show the young she-cat.

Starlingpaw stood there for some moments looking scary thunderpath and thinking about mentor's recent words which were echoing in her head. She was impressed by news about tunnel under Thunderpath; this was surely better way of getting over deadly road and without almost getting killed.

Then apprentice quietly followed Flamestrike with relief vecause they finally left Thunderpath. After this meeting she didn't fell suited for a warrior.

"What do you think so far?" He meowed lowly, looking straight ahead as they continued on. His paws lightly brushed the ground as he padded briskly through the territory. Even though it did not feel like long, the moon was already sinking low in the sky. Flicking his tail again, the warrior signaled for her to follow. Before the day was over, Flamestrike hoped to show her the deep marshes and maybe a few hunting techniques. They finally stopped at the marshes, while he waited for the young she-cat to answer.

Starlingpaw mewed: "There are so many new things I think. First Thunderpath and all this big territory. How can we even protect it?" She was really amazed and surprised like she was already multiple times today.

A slight smirk peeled up the warrior's maw. He remembered having the same thoughts as an apprentice. Being confined to the camp for so long as a kit meant he was denied seeing the full extent of the territory for quite sometime. When Hazeflight had finally been allowed to take him out, the flame colored tom had been in awe. However, since then, he had grown to learn the ways of this world. While their territory was vast, it was well controlled. The clans had been here for many, many moons. In this time, each had developed a good system for protecting what was theirs. Shadowclan was exceptionally practiced in this due to their night stalking abilities. While the other clans slept, Shadowclan was watching.

"We are constantly patrol the borders. Camp is hidden and well guarded. Cats are always out here. Of course, Shadowclan trains the best warriors too, so we can hold our own against any intruders." The warrior stood up straighter at the thought of how great his clan was. Eventually, this young she-cat would be able to see that too. She would learn. After not so long, Flamestrike would train her into being another great warrior. All of his battle experience and the training he had received would be passed to her as it had been in the clans for seasons.

Starlingpaw nodded with pinch of relief. She wasn't totally confident, but she was feeling much better. Flamestrike's words were powerful enough and brought some things to think of. So because of this she was rather quiet, thinking about her clanmates. There were really strong warriors in ShadowClan and she was not so near becoming one.

Flamestrike tried to shoot her a reassuring smile. It came of a little awkwardly, given he was not used to being around many cats that were not his own sons. He turned to move on. However, his eyes instantly locked onto a frog. With his tail straight, carefully avoiding brushing the ground or any foliage, the warrior crouched down. His gaze locked onto the target. The orange tom's ear barely even twitched as he stalked stealthily forwards. As soon as he was close enough, Flamestrike pounded. Claws unsheathed while he was mid air and tore into the soft flesh of the frog. Before it could so much as squeak, his teeth were sinking into it's soft neck.

"Did you catch any of my movements?" Flamestrike asked as he turned back to the apprentice. He had hoped she saw everything he did. However, if she needed another demonstration, he would be prepared to show her. The frog lay to the side of his paws, waiting to be buried. As soon as mentor and apprentice spoke, the tom intended on burying it for later.

Starlingpaw saw most of her mentor's movements and she was quite amazed. "First you scanned the frog and then pounced landing next to it with unsheathed claws, I think." It was quite hard to describe all those quick moves.

Flamestrike nodded, "Yes. You need to make sure you keep and eye on your target. Watch that you do not make a single sound, and only pounce when you are in range." The warrior turned to quickly bury his catch. Once he was done he instructed the she-cat to give it a try. His tail flicked towards a twig that lay a few tail-lengths away on the ground, marking it as her prey.
