Full Day Excursion [closed]

Ever since Brindlewhisker had become Deputy, everything had become rather hectic and she rarely had time for more leisure, rewarding duties- such as training her apprentice. Well, apprentices. Now that she had taken on two apprentices -Stoatpaw and Sagepaw-, everything had become even busier and finding the time to organize two separate training sessions for each she-cat would be difficult. Today was the first day of the little compromise Brindlewhisker had managed to come to; she had rounded up both Stoatpaw and Sagepaw for their first training session away from camp. Looking back over her shoulder as she easily scaled a steep, rocky ridge, Brindlewhisker stole a glance at the two little apprentices eagerly skittering behind her and let out an amused little huff. "Are you both ready to start your training?" She called, eventually grinding to a halt on top of the rocky ridge that was dotted with sparse grasses.

As if the start of her time as an apprentice couldn't get any better, today was the day that Stoatpaw had been looking forward to during her six moons as a hopeful and eager kit. An apprentice's first training session was always considered as an exciting event, or at least it should be...in Stoatpaw's opinion. It was like some sort of reward for becoming an apprentice, in a sense. When she had found out that today would be the day of her first training session, she had immediately began to think thoughts of excitement...and some of her eagerness seemed to spill out and she had ended up making some outbursts aloud. Now, Stoatpaw was padding alongside of Sagepaw, who was Brindlewhisker's other apprentice, and was following behind the deputy at a quick pace. To Stoatpaw, she felt like one of the luckiest cats in the Clans to have the deputy for a mentor.
Today is the day that I'll get to show both Brindlewhisker and Sagepaw what I'm made of, The ginger-and-white apprentice began to think, with a bright grin. However, it began to fade as her thoughts stretched farther, but what happens if I end up messing up...and on my first day of training, too?

Sagepaw blinked her deep green eyes slowly as she took in everything. Outside of camp, the world was so big. Instead of charging ahead, she padded along softly. Her soft paws barely scuffed the ground as she followed after Brindlewhisker. Next to her, Stoatpaw was looking as excited and eager as she'd ever seen another cat. While it was all incredibly impressive, and Sagepaw was honored to be learning from the deputy, her enthusiasm was very much so contained. The last thing she wanted to do was come off kit-like on her first day of training.

It took a moment for her to work her way up the ridge that her mentor had so easily scaled, but she did so quietly and without complaint. Trying to mask her mildly exasperated breath, the she-cat stopped for a moment to catch her breath, before continuing on after Brindlewhisker. After a moment, the deputy's words caught her attention and snapped her out of her own head. Sagepaw sent her a soft smile, "I definitely am, Brindlewhisker, for whatever you have to show us." Her words were light and simple as usual.

Brindlewhisker turned on her heels as Sagepaw and Stoatpaw scurried up the rocky ridge after her, amusement evident in her pale eyes at both she-cats awe-struck eyes and words. Pausing for a moment, the scarred she-cat halted their little party where they stood, allowing Stoatpaw and Sagepaw to catch their breath as they continued to gaze about the rugged moor hills with wide eyes. "We'll start with a short tour of the territory and if you two aren't too worn out afterwards, then perhaps we can start working on your stalking techniques." Chirped the young she-cat, gaze briefly flitting over both young apprentices- at least there would be no lack of enthusiasm between the pair. Now that she had fully finished Hollowfang's apprenticeship, Brindlewhisker felt much more confident in her ability to train apprentices- so much so that she felt she could easily handle both she-cats apprenticeships. lmao brindle u wrong

Plunging down the gritty ridge, Brindlewhisker took up a rather slow pace of a brisk jog in hopes that neither apprentice would strain themselves too much- plus, she saw no need in rushing into the more exercise-related portion of their training. They would get around to stamina training within a few sunrises. 'Perhaps they wouldn't be so eager then.' She reflected with wry amusement, recalling how little she cared for that segment of her training with Emberfall all those moons ago. "Would you two like to see the Gorge or Thunderpath first?" Brindlewhisker eventually called over her shoulder, continuing to lope at a comfortable pace as she spoke. Both borders had been relatively quiet -now that the trouble with Riverclan had seemingly died away- and she saw no reason for concern when it came to the safety of Sagepaw and Stoatpaw.

Sagepaw was grateful for the brief pause that the deputy gave them to rest. Before today, her legs had only been able to stretch as far as the camp walls allowed. This was quickly becoming exhausting. The grey and white she-cat could not believe that someday she would be able to run the entire territory with ease; someday she would be like Brindlewhisker, hopefully. She found herself nodding quite eagerly at the prospect of stalking techniques and her ears began to heat up. Sheepishly, she ducked her head and pushed away the excitement. It was quite out of her nature to allow herself to act like an excitable young kit. Brindlewhisker would never act like that.

As they continued on, Sagepaw ignored the ache in her muscles. Embarrassment was long forgotten, replaced with an eagerness to see the entire territory. When her mentor gave them the opportunity to pick where to go next, she paused to consider it. Stories of the thunderpath had painted it out to be both terrifying and having a rancid odor. That was not how she wanted to start off her training. On the other hand, the gorge sounded terrifying and thrilling all at once. It was a clear decision. However, not wanting to come across overly excited, she controlled her meow. The words were filled with a pure and quiet interest, "I wouldn't mind being able to see the Gorge." Her eyes darted to Stoatpaw, hoping the other she-cat agreed.
