Walk in the Shadows [Patrol - Closed]

Sootpaw nodded, then kept following Smokestripe throughout the patrol. Eventually, the landscape seemed to change a little, and he scented a new scent, he felt like it was another territory scent. Remembering what the other Tom had said, he knew it must be Skyclan. "So...", He started, not trying to sound rude, "what is it with Skyclan? The tribe cats and other stuff. I've heard rumors, but nothing else..." He trailed off.

The dark furred tom came to a halt when Sootpaw spoke up, turning to look at him as he paused to muse on the question. "I...I don't know much about what is going on with SkyClan and the Tribe," he admitted as he started to move again, leading Sootpaw along the border - marked by a single large tree that loomed over the rest. "I was at the gathering when the Tribe showed, claiming to have been called to the forest by their ancestors and was called the 'descends of old SkyClan' or something like that. Both SkyClan and WindClan offered to take in the cats but SkyClan got the bulk of it. From what I've heard and seen, the Tribe is more or less a proper part of SkyClan now but I haven't ever talked to one of the Tribe cats, just seen them with SkyClan at the gatherings."

Sootpaw nodded. I wonder what they're really doing here. He thought. Looking up, he noticed a tall tree looming above the rest. "Is this Highpine?" He mewed. He knew there was something about a tall tree, but had no idea if they had passed it or if they even had it near their territory. But now-he knew this must be it. The tree towered above all. The area also reeked of another territory scent, he knew it must be Skyclan. But the scent also seemed a little stronger than the general scent. "Hey, Smokestripe? Was there a patrol near here recently?" He smelled again, and there seemed to be a couple of cats there in the near past.

"Yeah, that would be Highpine," the tom said with a nod of his head, allowing his gaze to scan up the tree. He couldn't help but wonder if any SkyClan cat had been brave enough to climb to the top of it - he knew that they tended to hunt in trees but that height seemed...Insane to try to clamber up. Of course Smokestripe was more then happy with his paws on the ground. His gaze flickered back down to his apprentice as he spoke up, giving the air a taste before a purr rose in his throat. "Correct you are, Sootpaw. Their sunset patrol would have passed by here not long ago."

Sootpaw flushed with pride as his mentor said he was correct. He was so happy to have learned so much in good patrol. "Hey, I think can see camp!" It was true, he could start to see the faint shapes of cats in the distance.

Smokestripe nodded as he saw the familiar boundaries of the camp come into view. "Ah, we got back faster then I was expecting," he mused softly as he spared a glance up at the sky before he looked at Sootpaw. "How about you take the rest of the night off and relax, alright? You did a good job today, Sootpaw. You're a fast learner - you will be a warrior in no time," he said with a purr.
