Bonding Patrol [Closed]

Mottleheart sat in the middle of the camp, his tail wrapped around his paws as he waited for his beloved daughter to arrive. Her training had been greatly slowed since she had fallen sick and Emberfall seemed to be far to busy to continue Raccoonpaw's training since her recovery so he had taken it upon himself to finish up her training. His gaze was focused on the clouds but there was a twitch of excitement in his tail - he hadn't spoken much to his daughters in the resicent moons and it pained him to think about that. Not only would be a simple border patrol to stretch her legs but also a chance for them to properly chat. He feared they would grow distance and he couldn't stand the thought of that.

Raccoonpaw padded out of the apprentices and joined her father at the entrance of the camp. She was excited to be training with her father, but she didn't want to let him down. "Hello." She greeted her father with a purr.

Mottleheart's ears perked as he daughter came padding up, getting to his paws as he gently touched his nose to her forehead in greeting. "Raccoonpaw," he purred as he pulled away. She was growing to be a fine warrior but it seemed like not so long ago she was just getting her apprentice name. Oh, they grow up so fast...He shook his head before flickering his tail in a signal for her to follow as he turned and padded out of the camp. "We are going to be doing a border patrol," he explained, eager that the peaceful walk would serve as a good time for them to connect.

The apprentice nodded as she followed after her father, ready for the days work. She knew he wasn't going to go easy on her. She needed to be formed into a warrior like him. A strong warrior, and going easy on her wouldn't get here there. She was going to be the best warrior Windclan has seen in ages! She was going to do it.

With brisk steps, he moved across the moor while making sure to remain slow enough that Raccoonpaw would have no trouble keeping up with her. There was a glimmer in his eyes as the wind ruffled his pelt, enjoying the fresh air that WindClan treasured so much. It wouldn't take them long to get to the ShadowClan border as they had nothing to get in their way or slow down their progress but his pace died down just a little as he glanced over to his daughter. "So, what do you think of being an apprentice so far?" he asked with a smile.

The brown and white apprentice matching her father, felt the wind ruffle through her fur. She loved the wind, but it still kind of pushed her around. She was almost full grown, but she wasn't nearly as big as her dad. "Being an apprentice is nice.. but I want to be a warrior." She said, keeping any disappointment out of her tone. She couldn't say that she was uncomfortable being an apprentice, but she was meant to finish her training a while ago so she was a bit impatient. Impatient wouldn't get her to being a good warrior any faster though.

Mottleheart couldn't say that he was surprised that Raccoonpaw already wanted to become a warrior, the whole reason that she was behind on her training was why he had decided to take it over to make sure it got done. But he also had to admit he somewhat missed being an apprentice - everything was so simpler back then and he still had Rockpaw and Brindlewhisker as his friends...His gaze harden slightly at the thought of them, focusing his paws on the path before him. "Well hopefully you will be a warrior before you know it," he said, trying to keep his voice light. His whiskers twitched as he took note that they were almost up to the Thunderpath already. He could hear the roaring of Monsters already in the distance. Hopefully they wouldn't have to linger long at the ShadowClan border.

Raccoonpaw looked up at her father for a moment, before returning her eyes into what was in front of her. "I hope so." The apprentice said. When the apprentice heard the monsters in the distance she paused in her walk slightly, just for a moment, but she continued forward. She could deal with the monsters. For her clan.

Mottleheart halted slightly when Raccoonpaw paused at the sound of the monsters, stepping closer to her when she found the courage to move forward once more. Finally the Thunderpath came into view and the brown and white warrior came to a stop a few tail-lengths away as he glanced up and down the path with an open mouth. There was no clear scent of ShadowClan crossing and he doubted any cat would seeing how ShadowClan and WindClan seemed to be at peace with one another but one could never be far to certain. He glanced over at his daughter, gently placing his tail on her shoulder. "Come on, we'll follow the Thunderpath to Fourtrees. Keep an eye out for anything out of place," he said before brushing past her, making sure that he was between her and the Thunderpath as he headed in the direction of Fourtrees.

The apprentice stopped a little further back of the thunderpath than her father. Eventually she would be able to stand closer once she was an older warrior, but for now a safe distance was good enough for her. She relaxed a little more when she felt her father's tail on her shoulder and nodded when he spoke. "Alright." She double checked the scent real fast for her own comfort but didn't let it get in the way of her following her father.

His ears were perked and his mouth open, ready to detect anything off or strange but everything seemed to be all clear on the ShadowClan border and before he knew it they were near Fourtrees. The trees loomed over the two lone cats as he led his daughter pass the gathering place. His gaze shifted toward the clearing, taking in a deep breath in hopes of perhaps catching the scent of ThunderClan - of Rockpaw but was only met with disappointment. But he quickly shifted his focus away from that, not willing to let himself get distracted. Instead, he glanced once more at his daughter and found himself smiling. She was growing up into a fine warrior, and even if they weren't talking much this simple walk with her filled him with so much joy as it truly let him see how far she was from his precious little kit...Now she was truly his precious little warrior.

Raccoonpaw walked behind her father. Her green eyes keeping an eye on their surroundings. She couldn't risk anyone sneaking up on them, or letting anything get by her. A good warrior wouldn't let anything like that happen. Once they approached the fourtrees memories of the last gathering appeared in the apprentice's mind. Would all gatherings be like that? "Father? Are all clans as bad as what I saw at the gathering?" She asked.

Mottleheart jolted slightly in surprise when Raccoonpaw suddenly spoke up, his ears perking as he turned to look at her. Are all Clans as bad...? For a second he was confused until he realized what she was speaking about and his eyes widen. He had not been at the latest gathering but he had certainly heard what had happened. He quickly leaned forward to touch his nose against her forehead in a simple act of comfort before pulling away with a shake of his head. "No, they aren't normally that bad. But you also can't blame a whole Clan for the action of a single cat. StarClan made it clear that they weren't happy with what happened and I am sure most cats will be careful to keep the Warrior Code in mind when the next gathering rolls around."

She wasn't sure if she was satisfied with that answer. Everyone seemed to have so much tension between them. There were so many glares passed around. Not to mention the cat attacker another cat in a time of peace... If that could happen at the gatherings... then they really shouldn't trust other clans should they. She just accepted her father's comfort, and answer for now.. "I guess so.." The brown and white apprentice said.

Mottleheart could tell that Raccoonpaw wasn't all that comforted by his answer but he wasn't sure what words would satisfy her. There was no way to be surely aware of how the other Clans nor their warriors would react in the future- each cat was their own and while most were bound to loyalty to StarClan and their Clan, there were the few that had no such feelings despite his immense confusion on who would forgo such important matters but there was no doubt that some cats who cared nothing for their Clans and only cared for themselves. Just thinking about how those cats existed made his fur want to stand on end - their whole lives were built upon loyality. It was the code that they swore when they became warriors and what they were raised on. The idea that some cats would throw it all away just for themselves...It disgusted him.

With a shake of his head, wanting to escape these thoughts, he motioned for Raccoonpaw to follow him as he started moving forward once more. "We will check on the RiverClan border before heading back to the camp, alright?" he said with a glance at her, his gaze slightly worried for his beloved daughter. He wasn't sure what was going through her mind but he didn't want her to be afraid of the other Clans - they had good cats in them like Rockpaw...Even if the tom tended not to think before doing as his little adventure into the WindClan camp showed.
