A Spark Stalls Out [Death Topic]

Mana lay in her mossy nest, eyes half-shut. The elderly she-cat heaved a long breath, staying as calm as she could as she began to feel her life ebb away. Her claws outstretched, blind eyes closing, she attempted to stare out into the lengths of the alleyway. She reached out, and snagged a bundle of poppy seeds with her claw. She spasmed, and let out a chilling, choking gasp, tearing her claw backwards, towards her white-patched chest. The slippery black poppy seeds spilled out, all across the asphalt ground. Jaws wide open, Mana struggled to tug herself towards the seeds. Death nagging at her fur, she was beginning to feel life draining from her. Her bright eyes gleamed as she managed to chew a few, yet it proved worthless. Her face fell pale.

Her golden-honey eyes became lifeless, maw hanging open in a startling display. Her poppy seeds spilled, she had but half an intake. Her tail lifted, creating the brief feeling of suspense, though the rest of her showed no signs of life. She finally shut her mouth in a gentle smile. It would be my time someday... Mana thought. Take me now. Her paws twitched, and her tail fell, corpse for another cat to find in the depths of that grave alleyway.
