A New Dawn [Open]

Hoppaw saw the other kit. They look very similar, obviously siblings. He smiles at them.
"Sure he can, if he can handle it," Hoppaw mewed amusingly.

Maplekit looked up at the larger cat, amber eyes wide in interest. Every fiber of him wanted Hoppaw to let him play. Although, part of him was saying that he didn't need Hoppaw's permission, Maplekit figured that it would be better to just let the apprentice decide. It was his sister after all, there was no way some other cat would stop him from playing with her. "I can handle it." For a small kitten, his voice seemed confident and even toned. It may be the fact that he was taking this too seriously that would make others laugh. Yet to him, it was as serious as running out of prey in Leafbare.

Hoppaw laughed in amusement because of the Maplekits adorable answer.
"I knew you would be able to." Hoppaw mewed.

Dawnkit wiggled excitedly that her brother was able to join her, and Hoppaw. He finally crawled out from under the apprentice, and looked up at the apprentice again. "What are we gonna do?" She mewed in a soft voice. She hoped Hoppaw would have some ideas.

"Let's see if we can find any mice trying to steal our food," Hoppaw mewed.

Maplekit tilted his head in confusion, but turned tail and sprinted as fast as his tiny legs could carry him towards the freshkill pile. It wasn't much of a pile. Rather just freshkill laying about. Leaffall did that, the kit supposed. He heard the elders talk of how the prey hides during the Leaffall and Leafbare seasons. The kitten arrived, and began crouching in his own version of the hunter's crouch. He'd catch those mice in the act!

Dawnkit raced after her brother, eager to prevent anything from stealing their food. She crouched down a little ways from her brother. "See anything Maplekit?" She asked her voice barley above a whisper.

Mudpaw rolled his eyes and gave a sigh. The tom trotted over to the others. "Uh, mind if I join you guys?" He said, his green eyes glittered in the sun.
